America's Army dev making Saw game
Film creators getting excited.
Specialised movie tie-in publisher Brash Entertainment has outed Zombie as the developer of its upcoming Saw game.
Brash co-founder Mitch Davis let the word slip to Joystiq at GDC, while possibly being tortured in a unique and rather gory way.
Zombie, if you remember, has made games like America's Army, Shadow Ops and Covert Ops. Oh, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for EyeToy.
It follows rather a lot of excitement from the Australian pair who dreamt-up Saw, both of whom backed out of film-writing duties after Saw III.
"Leigh [Whannell] and I are very excited about this new venture," said James Wan on his blog. "We are big gaming fans and we think it would be a great opportunity to continue the Saw legacy on a different platform/medium. Keeps things fresh for us anyway.
"A lot of people have asked us if we would be interested in writing another Saw movie. Well, we are writing another Saw story, but it's for the game. We're treating this story like the Saw movies: with lots of twists and turns.
"We have no idea how that is going to apply to a computer game format, considering that most games are generally pretty simple in their plotting. Maybe it's a good thing that Leigh and I are naive to the video game world and that we're writing it like it's a movie!" he added.
Brash Entertainment has previously said its Saw game will be out in October 2009, but is yet to confirm platforms.
The game will be built on Unreal Engine 3, though, which suggests PC, PS3 and 360.

Thats where youre wrong, the Saw films cost pittance to make, between $5m-$10m each and gross back many times that at the box office. So whilst Saw IV was the weakest of the series at the box office it still made back many times its budget and thats without DVD sales.
