    Shocking.

Wii needs a good survival horror game which makes clever use of the controls, but that's just an infamy.
  • Spanky #2 5 years ago

There's no viable excuse for how bad this looks.
  • Kami #3 5 years ago

    This really is pretty shocking...

MS are ruining gaming. With poroduction costs requiring 1million+ sales games have to shit port and branch out. They also have to play it safe as safe canbe.

Alon in the PArk is doomed. Thanks for that Bill

    @Tonka

"Boohoo, teh Wii has shit games, it must be teh Microsoft's fault"

Bwahahaaa, You guys crack me up! WiiLULZ.
  • Tonka #6 5 years ago

@Kryon: I'm sure I said nothing of the sort.
  • dadrester #7 5 years ago

wow! the psp version of silent hill looks better
  • stoopidgreg #8 5 years ago

man that is one hella blurry game
  • SimonM7 #9 5 years ago

Way to go thinking scale is what you need to preserve. :(

Make a Wii-centric AiTD based on the first trilogy of games with Wiimote controlled bashing of zombie heads with frying pans. There, go on!

    Overheard at Hydravision/Atari meeting:
    - So, how is this horror game conversion coming along?
    - Well, it -looks- horrible..
    *badum*

I used to play the first 3 alone in the dark games on the pc ages ago, this however I wouldn't touch with a stick let alone with a wiimote.
  • Nikanoru #12 5 years ago

The PSone version of Silent Hill looks better than this. Jesus Christ, Atari.

Gotta agree, but then again, SH1 was an awesome looking game.

Just goes to show how developers these days are lazy fucks who have gotten used to only relying on HD resolution and pretty pixel shaders to do the graphic work for them (because after all, that's the only thing us nerds look at).
  • JediMasterMalik #13 5 years ago

That's the most idiotic thing I have heard. What does HD and pixel shaders have to do with laziness?
  • Kami #14 5 years ago

We know the Wii is capable of more than this. MP3, Mario Galaxy, RE4 and Raving Rabbids prove the Wii is capable of crisp, clean graphics. Forget the game, there're lots of Wii games which quite frankly make this look like the last AITD, the one end of PS1's life and start of PS2's.

It's just lazy, and truthfully, if Atari are collapsing, they'd be best euthanising this appalling piece of shite. The Wii is better than this - that said, I'd say the PS2 is also more capable than they seem to give it credit for...

Atari are up the swanny. The other day they announced on gi.biz they are so much in debt they're closing down all internal dev and becoming publisher only (or at least that's how i read it).

My guess is they're rushing this out at last minute to try to recoup SOME money.

That's the most idiotic reply I've read all day.

What could possibly be so hard to understand about this? High res normal maps and a pretty HDR filter offer an easy way to make the audience go "ahhhh" at the shiny computer-generated effects, while not having to waste as much time on creating good art. Developers are getting used to relying on the machine to do much of the visual work for them. It's obvious human nature.
  • JediMasterMalik #17 5 years ago

Again, idiotic, it still takes effort to put all of that together. The best looking games aren't made by lazy people. I agree, art is very important, but to say that HD graphics are a sign of laziness is just stupid.
  • smelly #18 5 years ago

Who cares about HD gfx anyhows? Certainly not 360 owners - looking at halo 3.

*edit* : Missed out the word "HD" when writing the above.

"HD" is an Abbreviation, not a word. You learn something new everyday (probably quite a few things if you're unlucky enough to be like smelly)...

Wait, what? HD graphics are a sign of laziness? Maybe the alternate version of me that resides in your imaginary dream world said something like that. Me though, I said normal mapping, HDR, radiosity and other such pretty pixel shaders inspire and breed laziness. I mean, who needs good art direction when the artist can put down an untextured cube, let the engine render it with perfect specular lighting and the whole list of features, and call it a futuristic crate? And worst of all, have all the geeks eat it up because they only pay attention to how hard it's pushing their GPU?

Sure, that's a bit of a hyperbole, and many do spend the effort to create some good art content (see Bioshock), but it seems some developers just cannot stand on their own anymore and need expensive computer-generated effects like a cripple needs a crutch.

I don't know how to make this any clearer to you. Oh and since you started it: you're an idiot.
