Alone in the Dark for Wii, PS2

Strong sales force hand?

Atari has revealed that it will also be offering Alone in the Dark on PS2 and Wii.

The survival-horror game was previously restricted to "next-generation" platforms, otherwise known as PC, PS3 and 360. Presumably the continued success of the PS2 and market leading sales of the Wii have changed its mind.

Developer Hydravision of Obscure renown will be making the new versions and getting to grips with the Wii controls and ageing PS2 hardware to offer the best experiences possible.

Alone in the Dark is due for release on 360 and PC sometime before March 2008, with the PS3 version to follow. No dates are mentioned for the PS2 and Wii offerings, but expect them around the same time.

The Wii shots are shocking, God only knows what the PStwo version is going to be like...

"God only knows what the PStwo version is going to be like..."

About the same, I'd imagine. The Wii version has a 99.9% probability of being a shit port of the PS2 edition.

Yeah this is not really what wii want.

In other words the games shit and they arent going to sell that many on the 360 and PS3 so a quick dirty port to PS2 and Wii will hopefully shift a couple more copies

So they are going to release AitD1 on the wii?

    /goes back under his bridge
  • SirDespard #7 4 years ago

Surely an attempt to maximise revenue from any suitable stream due to the shocking financial state of Atari. If this flops, they're in big trouble.
Expect DS and PSP versions to be announced shortly.

So... games like AitD not on Wii and it's "ROFLMAO!!!! Wii's got no games!!!"

But... games like AitD come to Wii and it's "ROFLMAO!!!! Another crappy port!!!"

    Make up your minds, fanboys!

@MoGamer2006: I see only one fanboy here, kneejerking all over the place to what he considers any criticism of his chosen platform. No-one's claiming that the Wii is shit. What's being said is that this game looks shit -- and it does. If anything, you should be deriding it too, as it's PS2 port shovelware like this which leads to people berating the Wii.

I think AITD should do reasonably ok at least with next gen, perhaps not setting the house on fire.

Only wondering how they ll use the structure, story over onto PS2 and Wii. By saying they ll make a 'new version' is a clear acknowledgement cannot port it to 'inferior' hardware. Still would be a worry for PS3/X360/Ninja PC if Hydravison manage to make their new version a better one to play than the proper version!

when will these guys learn that all this shovelware just doesnt sell on Wii

third party devs release these shitty ps2/psp ports with waggle, and release them at full price of 60 euro, then start crying when no one buys their shitty ports (e.g. Alien Syndrome, a shitty psp port of an archaic mediocre handheld game, released at 60 euro, who the hell thought that would be a good idea?)

try making a good game, from the ground up guys, you might have more luck and sell a few copies

@Aretak - Calm down, luv; my comments weren't aimed at you personally.
  • kissthestick #13 4 years ago

if anything, a Wii version confirms a PSP port.

"...to see how scary it is."

And not a good kind of "scary".

    where are the wii screensots?

Hmmm, no, I prefer to remain indecisive and make cheeky one liners that don't really have any content in them.

I think between these two posts these guys have just about hit the nail on the head. This game has looked fairly unimpressive so far IMO, and I expect the PS2 and Wii versions to be horrendous. Not what either console wants or needs.

    @Vin.

Cool. I hadn't realised they were going so far as to even make a PS1 version. It's been ages since I've bought a new game for my trusty old original Playstation.

    MMmm...good but not great looking.

Surely the ps2 will get a crappy port if the Wii version and not the other way round.

What's the betting you get to control a flashlight with the Wiimote?
