Alone and MGS4 demos on PSN News

News by Tom Bramwell

7 November, 2008

Alone in the Dark and Metal Gear Solid 4 demos top the list of additions to the PlayStation Store this week because of the way we've formatted our list.

Also because they are more interesting, we reckon, than the addition of PSone titles Theme Park and Spin Jam, although each to their own and so forth.

This week also marks the introduction of downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour, giving us far more fiddly details to write up each week and for that we are obviously grateful.

This obviously presented us with a quandary: who to list first on the PSN update list? Fortunately, Harmonix gallantly stepped up this week and said, "We're not competing with Guitar Hero". So they obviously won't mind always appearing second.

This week also marks the release of LittleBigPlanet in Europe, and to celebrate we've got a special "Horse Armour of the Week" trophy for Sony's "LittleBigPlanet Rare T-shirt" at GBP 3.99 / EUR 4.99.

But enough from us. Here's the list you've probably already skipped this text to read anyway:

"BioShock PS3 theme (GBP 0.79 / EUR 0.99)"

?! Never really dabbled with themes but didn't know they came at a price. But then again, as it's 2K...

"LittleBigPlanet Rare T-shirt (GBP 3.99 / EUR 4.99)"

Rare in the sense that not many people will be willing to shell out the money? Might be true...

@Darren

Latest demo ever already went to Warhawk last week. MGS4 just gets the silver medal :) You're right that it's nice there's a demo - no-one with a PS3 and online capability shouldn't, at the very least, give it a try.

You'd have to be a complete mug with more money than sense to buy that "rare" shirt though

Spin Jam? Theme Park?

Right, FFS PLEASE EG get someone on here and ask 'em WHO CHOOSES THE PS1 titles for PSN and WHY?????(that goes for the dunces who "look after" Xbox Originals as well). So many brilliant games people would happily pay for, so why try selling us the pap?

Also, £4 for a TShirt in LBP? They're not silly are they? Hopefully consumers aren't to, Horse armour FTL...

/ sits and sulks then thinks cheer up it's Friday!

Have I got this right? £4 for a single bit of clothing for LBP? What's this Horse Armour thing? Oblivion? Was this a single DLC and if so how much?

I guess the guys at Sony figured the PS3 is missing so many things compared to X360 these days, Horse Armour being one of them and unfortunately not available for PS3, so they gave us the next best thing - the ridiculously overpriced LBP T-Shirt.

4 quid for a t-shirt? The price gouging begins.

Surely if it's LBP you could just make your own. Wonder if there'll be a global trade in counterfeits and knock-offs on the servers...

I'm getting very concerned with this minature pricing strategy that I'm starting to see at the PSN store. £2 here, 99p there.... all adds up

Fact is, I aint paying for sqwat, no matter how "rare" it is!

Themes should not have a cost, its a bloody wallpaper FFS!!!

Checked the store. The T-shirt is rare because it will only be available for 1 week. So if you get it you can show that you're a LBP player from day (or actually week) one. Clever marketing ploy and I must admit I feel tempted. Sure 5 euros is a ridiculous amount but if I don't do it, I'll never be able to get the T-shirt again... The agony.

Now I know from a thread about a rape victim being stoned to death that people that fund charity actually condone rape. So no money to charity, get that T-shirt Les!
