All Halo music for one soundtrack

Costs a fair bit, out Monday.

Sumthing Else Music Works and Microsoft have decided stuff all of the Halo music onto a massive compilation soundtrack.

There are five discs in total, and cover all three Halo shooters and compositions by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori. There's also a bonus DVD previewing five Halo Wars tracks, plus a behind the scenes video of the main theme being recorded.

Halo Trilogy - The Complete Original Soundtracks releases on Sumthing Else Music Works' digital outlet today. Only we couldn't find it there. Perhaps try later this afternoon when America wakes up.

Otherwise you'll have to wait until Monday 8th December, when Amazon UK will sell the bundle for GBP 39.49, which is quite a lot really. But then there's quite a lot of music on offer.

    Great soundtrack, but I wouldn't sit down and listen to it.

    I quite like the Halo 2 soundtrack, but that's enough for me. I'm not fussy about 1 & 3.

    Sumthing Else Music Works and Microsoft have decided -TO- stuff all of the Halo music onto a massive compilation soundtrack.

    Missing word pointed out

    Is this just the Halo soundtrack, the 2 volumes of the Halo 2 soundtrack and the two-disc Halo 3 soundtrack in one box then?
  • andywilkie35 #7 3 years ago

    Wait a second, you're telling me that I can buy that tune that loops over and over in those battles with those massive scarab things?! the music that doesn't become more and more infuriating every time you have to do the battle?

    put me down for a copy of this! £40! fuck getting a new game, this is what I want!
  • linksdad #8 3 years ago

    £40 is a real value proposition. Those poor musicians really need to recoup the cost of their art. None of you will have already paid for this music. Please support this worthy cause.

    I already own each album anyway. :p

    I quite enjoyed the Halo 1 & 2 OST's - 3 just grated on me though.

    I suggest Danny Elfman for the next games soundtrack.

    All those who argree say AYE!

    Game soundtracks is ALL I listen to. \m/
  • DFawkes #13 3 years ago

    @link'sdad

    What? Why would none of us have paid for this music? Are you from a parallel universe where the only way to hear game music is play the game? I've already shown my support as far as I want to, and I'm happy with my Halo 2 Soundtra (Vol 1). Though it is the only games soundtrack my local HMV had, so choice was slim.

    I wish it was easier to buy games music on CD, I like a lot of it. Especially Final Fantasy VII, I love it's MIDI charms :)

    I never got Soundtracks on CD. I mean, it's only really relevant when I play the game or watch the movie, not when I'm on the train. There's some cool stuff out there, but no way I'm listening to stuff like that when I'm not gaming.

  • Apostle #17 3 years ago

    Haha, BlU-Rayz would haz all ur soundtrakz on 1 disc, fools!!1 LOL
  • Darren #18 3 years ago

    I can't say I'd personally pay money for a soundtrack such as Halo's because while the music works exceptionally well in the game while you're playing it, it isn't something I'd want to listen to outside of the game. I could say the same for movie soundtracks too though. The only game soundtrack I've ever bought was the superb WipEout 2097 CD but that had proper songs on it that were as enjoyable to listen to out of the game as in. IMO.

    Fair dos to anyone who does but at £40 the soundtrack is hardly an impulse buy really.

    I own all 3 already but do admit I love soundtracks - this series I find particularly inspiring and am looking forward to the Halo Wars soundtrack.

    I say Nay to Danny Elfman - who is better suited to gothic epics like Edward Scissorhands and the NBC etc IMO (although the Wanted soundtrack is very good)

    Nothing wrong with listening to soundtracks (but then again, I visualise music, so they have more appeal to me).

    But Halo's?
  • schnide #21 3 years ago

    Wow, is this only £40? If I was ever actually sad enough to want to listen to all 3 (4?) Halo soundtracks, then at that price I'd torrent is straight away.
  • miiiguel #22 3 years ago

    I have H2 OST. But what the heck... It's Xmas, screw those 50 Eur..., pre-ordered!
  • DFawkes #23 3 years ago

    @Royal Fool

    Can't, it's been on the blocks since about 1000 miles. Now I think people are genuinely insane when they say "Nice weather!" and it's 2 bellow outside. Crazy people.

    Price is a bit much though. Usually, compilations reduce the price quite a bit. £40 for 5 discs is a tad much considering how similar some of the songs are on seperate discs. I suppose it's more of a collectors set though.

    Word on the street, is this is missing Halo 2, Vol. 1, for some absolutely mystifying reason.
  • Xerx3s #25 3 years ago

    Daryoon: Yeah because it is not one of the most accomplished, defining and recognisable game tunes.

    Oh wait.

    Tatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatataaaa

    DUH DUH DUH DUHHHH -

    awesome. Won't buy it though.

    "who the fuck sits there listening to a videogame soundtrack. "

    Many people. That's why games in concert are so popular. It's better than the tripe you hear on the radio these days.
  • RedSparrows #28 3 years ago

    If it's good music it doesn't matter where it was placed originally. 'Game' music does not entail that it is innately poor.
  • schnide #29 3 years ago

    And I bet you'd sit through the average compilation of cutscenes too and nominate it for a Palm D'Or.

    @designerheadache

    haha so true!

    But I thought that was back when they were deciding on an MMO?

    I thought there was only one song for the whole of Halo anyway... that title song...
