Aliens vs Predator given UK date

Three editions to arrive in February.

SEGA plans to release Aliens vs Predator here on 19th February 2010.

And on that day three versions of the PC, PS3 and 360 game will await your pick.

There's a self-explanatory Standard Edition; a tin-encased Survivor Edition that comes with a post-launch DLC map code; and a Hunter Edition, which has all of that plus facehugger model, Weylund Yutani sleeve badge and 3D lenticular postcard.

Those details and the date are reported on MCV. SEGA has no comment to offer at present.

Aliens vs Predator aims to recreate the iconic shooter of old on today's technology, overseen by original developer Rebellion. The game drew large crowds at the Eurogamer Expo 2009 and for good reason.

Check out our impressions of the game from the show to find out more.

According to Play it's out the same week as AC2 and Max Payne 3. 26th Feb. Expensive week, guess I'm living of Steam deals until then.
  • el_pollo_diablo #3 2 years ago

I really, really hope Rebellion make a better fist of this than their last few efforts.
  • Darren #4 2 years ago

Already pre-ordered the PC version which I understand will support DirectX 11. Hopefully NVIDIA will have released their new DX11 graphics cards by then.

  • linea #9 2 years ago

@Jeepers if it's half as good as the first game in the series it's going to be fricking awesome.

oh, to be a 13-year old boy in this current age. So many good games. I've had precisely 15 minutes to play computer games this week :(

    @Bad09
What game is AC2? I am so lame, I can't think beyond Assassin's Creed 2.
  • Jeepers #11 2 years ago

    @linea
I really hope so - I've wanted a decent Aliens games for ages. The movie is perfect for an FPS - it has the atmosphere, lighting, characters and sound design off to a tee.

The reviews of Rogue Warrior have me worried tho'. Do we know if it's the same dev team working on AvP?

    "Turn around."

Did anyone else start singing "every now and then i get a little bit lonely..." ?

  • bad09 #13 2 years ago

Yeah Assassins Creed 2, so gutted I have to wait :(

It'll be worth it tho :)

Edit - I get marked down for this? Some of you are funny :)

Max Payne 3 has slipped to Fall 2010 (announced this week).
Still an expensive month if the rest comes as planned.

I think Assassin's Creed II is hitting PCs in March - not 26th February.

I thought Splinter Cell Conviction was coming out on 26th February. It wouldn't make sense for Ubi to release two games on the same day...

Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if Splinter Cell comes out a few months later on PC, after the 360 versions has been around for a while... (That's the way PC gaming is headed)...

Also, AvP won't be great! It's Rebellion guys!!! Rebellion!!!
  • hiddenranbir #18 2 years ago

    I'm getting Hunter, I must...surely!

Really? When I went to watch it there were about 5 people watching, all looking as unimpressed as I did. The multiplayer basically boiled down to anyone playing as a Predator walking around cloaked and being told to press X when ever a marine or alien was close to kill him.

19th Feb........ is my birthday! \o/

edit: I get a negative for birthday related frivolity? Stick it up your arse!

DX11, wonder if my everdelayed order for an ATI 5850 will be here in time!!!!!

Since there is pre-order deals at £20 on PC it would be rude not to.

Still remember getting a Voodoo3 to play the original, it is an amazing game and if the only capture half of the magic they did then I will be happy.

    "Weylund Yutani sleeve badge"

    Its Weyland!
  • sneetch #23 2 years ago

They should replace the marines with Batman. That'd even the playing field. :)
  • bodypopper #24 2 years ago

I wonder if they'll put a sticker on the box saying 'if you buy this we'll release Colonial Marines, y'know. the game that's probably going to be a bit better'. How about putting a voucher for a tenner off Colonial Marines in the box as well Sega?

There's something out there waiting for us... and it ain't no man. ...
  • Doctor_What #26 2 years ago

@ Jeepers: Yes, it's a different dev team to Rogue Warrior, including people from the original PC AVP release. I can't remember the interviews that said this, but this is old hands back in charge of the franchise.

  • M_of_the_sys #32 2 years ago

Come on guys! If you're gonna quote something, at least try to get it right!

I'm not looking forward to this game after seeing it at the Expo. I'd at least like a trial version first.
  • gjgjg #33 2 years ago

i want this game. but i want it to be good more
  • Haloboy #34 2 years ago

I'm hoping the very same reason Rogue Fail turned out as such a shit fest is because Rebellion were working so hard on pouring all the talent they could muster into this. A guy can dream right? This is still going to have to go some way to topping Monolith's excellent Aliens vs Predator 2. IMHO.
  • Jeepers #35 2 years ago

    @Doctor_What
Ah, cheers for the info fella - that's cheered me up on a grey Thursday!
  • SomaticSense #36 2 years ago

If this game is a patch on the two PC releases from a few years ago, then Bioshock 2 will have to wait. Seriously.

Ever since the current-gen first hit, my first thought was "please let there be a new Aliens game, that would be fantastic". So PLEASE don't screw it up Rebellion!
  • SomaticSense #37 2 years ago

    @ Jeepers

I'm a fan of the Halo games, but even so, I've seen nothing to suggest that BUngie would necessarily be able to make even a half decent AvP game. For all the similarities in the marines, the two games couldn't be further apart in atmosphere and gameplay. Besides which, Bungie specialise in huge gameplay areas and vehicle combat, neither of which would fit in an AvP game.

Better it's in the hands of the originial devs to be honest.
  • IneptPercy #38 2 years ago

"This is still going to have to go some way to topping Monolith's excellent Aliens vs Predator 2. IMHO."

I will say opinions are subjective, but many will agree with me that the first was better than the second.
  • Haloboy #39 2 years ago

Most will, I agree entirely. But I personally found the first to be a rather frustrating affair overall. Good game sure, but not the fps messiah it's long been made out to be.
  • StooMonster #40 2 years ago

Used to love the old Alien vs Predator vs Marine games on PC, although IIRC the second one wasn't as good as the first for suspense, but if the previews are right I will love this one! Seen it for pre-order on Steam, and that's where I'll be getting it from.

Direct X11 is intriguing, but I am going to wait for the second edition of Nvidia's Fermi cards (DX11) before updating my tri-SLI GPUs.

It's another Aliens quote. Ripley says it (I think).

I love the way every time there's any article related to Aliens or Predator it just goes off into one massive quote-athon.... did anyone do the choppar yet?

    GETTTT TO THE CHOPPPPPPPAAAAARRRR!
  • Invisible_Cow #50 2 years ago

Warily hopeful. From what I played at the expo, they really need to do some work to balance the classes in multiplayer.

  • metalangel #51 2 years ago

Colonial Marines don't say "oohrah" do they? No sale! PC Gamer previewed this a while ago and seemed concerned that the brutal, terrifying nature of the old games was replaced very much by "press Y to cloak, press X to eviscerate Marine"

Wow, I can think of worse developers than the Halo boys to make an Aliens game (Treyarch!) but still wouldn't want them at the helm. The maps and overall design of Halo sits anywhere between cliche to poor, in my opinion. And there's zero atmosphere in those games. I think the controls and AI are very good, but that's it. No, let's see what they can do with a new franchise.

Anyway, back to Aliens vs Predator... I can't wait for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

    Oh, and errr....

They mostly come out at night...

    mostly.

The original PC game was great so I'm confident about this one. Don't like the Predator much, I'll always go with the Marines and Aliens.
