Aliens FPS and Red Faction 3 named News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 MMO
News by Robert Purchese

14 February, 2008

Aliens: Colonial Marines will be the name of the Gearbox-developed squad-based FPS.

Confirmation comes by way of US magazine Game Informer, which also outed Red Faction: Guerrilla as the title of the recently unveiled third instalment in the series.

Both Aliens: Colonial Marines and Red Faction: Guerilla are in development for PC, 360 and PS3.

Aliens is expected next year, and Red Faction will apparently be out before April 2009.

Odd. Sega must have bought the rights to the name off of EA, as this was the name of the excellent looking Aliens FPS they were working on back in the early days of the PS2.

And Red Faction: Guerilla? Sounds a bit shit. Just call it Red Faction 3 for fuck's sake.

Anyway, I'm hoping for good things from both of these. Don't dissapoint, please.

Oh god yes. If they can get that original AVP intensity down, I'm so there.

Holy shit, I remember that Aliens game! Apparently it was canned because it didn't play all that well, which was a shame as it looked great back then. Hopefully it'll turn out better this time, as the concept is really cool.

Hmm Aliens are cool, but I'd prefer to be able to "be" the Predator as well!

Aliens!!!! Yipee I still have fond memory of first Aliens vs Predator, going much further back there were two Aliens version on the old spongy Spectrum (US and UK).

Red Faction, I played the first one it was okay but the promised deformation was overegged, second one I did not complete but that would be due to the limit of hardware and current gen should deliver the original vision. Though there is Fracture from LucasArt which aim to do similar with deformations left, right and centre?!

The Original Red Faction was an interesting idea, set on mars and all. I liked it to a certain extent. I would love an Alien game like the first PS one game but in todays graphics and gameplay...

"Smoking or non smoking?"

"Man, this floor is freezing."
"What do you want me to do, fetch your slippers for you?"
"Gee, would you sir? I'd like that."
"Look into my eye"

"Check those corners"

"All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade!"

"Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen"

Etc, etc. Outstanding movie for drunken quotes.

Naming your game after something that got canned is a brave move.

Please don't fuck up another Aliens game! For the love of all that is good.

Nothing Aliens ever topped that Doom mod. Even AvP 1 & 2.

Considering how much Bungie, er, borrowed from Aliens I was kinda hoping for Aliens vs Covenant with Colonial Marines in it but still, bring it on. It can't be worse than the film series is at the moment.
