Age of Conan will feature full gore and "breasts with nipples" when it is released in the UK and US later this year.
Funcom originally said the game would bear an M for Mature badge in North America, but later corrected itself after an uncensored version was submitted and came away with a Mature 17+ stamp.
The developer apologised for "maybe two small errors".
However, the German version will differ from the rest of Europe and have to make do without decapitations, dismemberment and "over-the-top type fatalities".
Age of Conan carries an 18+ rating in the UK because it's mature and gory and about as subtle as Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's an MMORPG but focuses on an active combat system and player versus player battles, making it a hard to prospect to resist.
And, according to Funcom, around 500,000 of you have already felt the attraction by joining the ever growing community. That number includes beta sign-ups, forum members and probably hairy barbarian groupies.
The PC version is due to arrive on 20th May, with an Xbox 360 version announced but languishing in the "to follow" category.

still 2 different versions of the EU client to manage - and whats to stop german players from just getting a UK client? Or just getting the .BIN file or .DAT file or whatever and dropping it into the relevent folder? This censorship will only be happening clinet side after all...
Still we get boobies and blood and gore, it just wouldn't be a conan product without them ;) |

I remember when they censored Ninja Gaiden for all PAL territories in the original Xbox release.
At least this time they're only keeping it in the countries where the crazy censorship actually thrives. I wonder if the severed heads have physics manipulation, or if they just fall to the ground as inanimate objects that you clip through? |

Probably best to check out the non-Funcom videos. This was from before the last beta patch (and the beta takes up about 22 Gb of disk space so it will be interesting to see how it all works on a console)

I'm in Germany and this USK censoring has got to end. Geeze "Jericho" finally got an official release just lately! The worst part is you have to ask if a game is 100% uncut, otherwise it's usually cut to some degree without notice on the box! If Germany wants my continued economic input they need to stop this ban on gore and just sell the discs at the local adult book stores, which is how the video stores are getting around it. sorry to vent here over this it just felt needed. Guess I'll have to order AoC from UK, if it turns to out to be good. Rental of a MMORPG would get costly. Cheers all :-]
