Funcom announces Age of Conan - Hyborian Adventures.

It's a story driven action-rpg single player game, with online end-game content.

There's more information on their website, and it's slated for release on PC in the first half of 2006.

it was written as a trilogy...

Conan the Barbarian,
Conan the Destroyer.
Conan the Cross-Gender.

They didn't make a film version of the third book

Remember that here in the north, it can get pretty foggy, depending of the time of year...maybe Funcom have implemented such a function as well? That is pure speculation, however.
These may be the first screenshots that have really made me proud of my country (oh yes; Funcom is NORWEGIAN! Yay!).

A few months on, and Age of Conan is quite an anticipated title. There's a 'community-portal' site up for it now, aswell as some alpha screenshots (above), and some speedtree environment screenshots (also above). There are some trailers on their site, one may well be making it's way to Eurogamer.tv, and the other doesn't want to download.

The environments look good, and it seems to have a style of its own. Characters all look a bit similar, but I guess that's something they'll iron out as they approach launch. Caution though, as apparently Funcom support for mmos (ala AO) leaves much to be desired.

I find it intensely irritating that in the first screenshot the tower is fogged, but the reflection of the tower isn't.
