Age of Conan expansion reveal soon
Funcom reckons we're "in for a treat".
Funcom plans to reveal a brand new Age of Conan expansion this August at GamesCom.
Director of communications Erling Elllingsen told Eurogamer he is "really looking forward" to the reveal, and that fans following the event are "in for a treat".
He wouldn't talk about expansion specifics, but explained that a "dedicated team" has been working on it for quite some time, "And they are very eager to show off what they have been working on!"
Funcom recently announced massive changes to the Age of Conan world, such as an overhaul for the underlying RPG mechanics as well as a new zone with associated heap of content.
"We are bringing a lot of that into the expansion as well," said Ellingsen of the core changes, "making sure we build upon the strengths of the game and stay true to the original vision we have always had for Age of Conan."
"I think players will be pleased!" he added.
GamesCom is the new premier consumer videogame event for Germany that takes place in Cologne from 19th to 23rd August. We'll be there.
The Leipzig Games Convention, as a result, is no more. Instead, Games Convention Online will take place from 31st July to 2nd August and focus on online and mobile games and businesses.

Then they'll stick you with a charge for the upcoming expansion that will include 'some' of the things they had promoised at launch.
I've subbed and cancelled twice now, the game is still shite. End of.

Have any evidence/figures to back that up?

"dozens of new place holder buttons which do nothing for you to click in vain!"
As I said in the other thread, I'm sure it's better, but I'd much rather they spend a bit of effort trying to win back the poor folks such as myself who spent £40 on it at launch and got an unfinished game. What compensation are we getting? none at all. Instead they are simply trying to give away copies to people who have never played it before, who will probably not bother because of the bad word of mouth us early adopters are still dishing out.
I'd happily give the game another shot if you gave my original account 30 free days and a nice trinket for my troubles, but so long as they ignore the very people who gave it their first chance, they can forget it.

I'm really surprised they haven't done a "welcome back" thing, to me it'd make sense to lure the people who wanted to play the game (but left for whatever reason) back again rather than going after new blood.

I was feeling exactly the same when 1.05 came out. Everybody* was talking about how good the game had become after these months and expecially after that patch... and Funcom wasn't giving me a chance to see how good that has become??? A ten day welcome back offer would have gone a long way into getting back people that had got the game on the first place and were burned by the status it was released...
However, I decided to give it a go anyway, and I'm not disappointed at all. It really is refreshing after so much time spent on WoW, and right now it plays smoothly and fnally feels like the game I hoped it would be. And, yes, it pretty much full of people, admittedly splitted on just 2 servers, but it fells much more bustling than the majority of WoW servers anyway (which are mediumly populated only if you play with a lvl 80 char). It is still no WoW-killer, but it's on par of LOTRO i.e. right now IMHO
