I dunno, this game does look cool...

Too expensive, though. But, I'm intrigued by the "guitar vs. dj" duels, I already have a plastic guitar...
  • kinky_mong #2 2 years ago

Fedde Le Grand's massive "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit"

Final nail in the coffin. Do not want.
  • VicViper #3 2 years ago

Well I alreeady pre-ordered the game out of game stop hopefully they'll stick to thier £80 ish price point they told me about. The list looks pretty good, curious about the two Daft Punk megamixes as the site show the daft punk trailer when you click on the listen button.
  • YobRenoops #4 2 years ago

Want! Don't care its going to cost an arm and a leg I still want. Was a Beatmania bitch back at the turn of the millenium (and that was gard living in the UK).
  • kangarootoo #5 2 years ago

That is a damn good list. Shame the game + deck costs so much.
  • MiniAmin #6 2 years ago

You can hear the tracks here.

Awesome looking track list, shame about the ridiculous price point :(
  • VandelayIndustries #8 2 years ago

    Oh :(
Want it, but still too pricey, might wait until after Christmas.
  • Toothball #9 2 years ago

I do quite like some of those names, but Black Eyed Peas rules it out entirely. Also I don't much like mash ups to begin with.
  • Sonic_D #10 2 years ago

HOLY SHIT! What a track list:

Daft Punk - "Robot Rock" vs. Hashim - "Al Naafyish (The Soul)"
Herbie Hancock - "Rockit" Beat Juggle
Gang Starr - "Just To Get A Rep" vs. Mobb Deep - "Shook Ones, Pt 2"
Vanilla Ice - "Ice Ice Baby" vs. MC Hammer - "U Can't Touch This"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does it have to be so expensive?!
  • groovychainsaw #11 2 years ago

I just want an album. i'll pay.... hmmm... £25 for a 4 disc set of CDs or mp3s. Do it! Its the best mix album i've seen for a very long time. Not interested in the game, looks ridiculously hard for one thing (scratching, button matching and sliders on the other hand? I struggle enough with guitar hero's 2 things at once, let along 3...), and its £110!!
  • Markusdragon #12 2 years ago

The track list is great, unfortunately (or fortunately), listing to bits of them has reminded me that I really don't like this kind of music. Ah well, that's one chunk of plastic less for me to buy.
  • Scurrminator #13 2 years ago

you know you can get it for 90 if you shop around ;-)
  • asphaltcowboy #14 2 years ago

Fantastic track list. No chance of purchase for over £100 though! Haven't even splashed out on RB2 or GW5 yet!
  • skillian #15 2 years ago

That is a fanfuckingtastic playlist, way better than I imagined when I first heard about the game. Very impressed.
  • shotgun44 #16 2 years ago

I haven't read many of the previews so could someone please explain why the songs are all 'vs' and what it essentially means?
  • el_pollo_diablo #17 2 years ago

    Black Eyed Peas?

Well now I can't buy it on principle.
  • Scurrminator #18 2 years ago

The reason for the vs is that the songs are mashups.
Usually the vocals from one track mixed with the instrumental from the other to create a 'new' track.
  • gaselite #19 2 years ago

What's interesting about this is the way it taps into the mash-up zeitgeist with DJs that aren't really synonymous with that style.

Some of these tracks will be awful (mainly, I suspect, those made by the team's 'in-house DJs', but some of these could be really compelling. I hope all the remixes are attributed to those that mixed them.
  • TitianWarrior #20 2 years ago

mash-ups are largely terrible with a few exceptions. DJ P and Z-Trip do one with an instrumental of Pat Benetar - Love is a Battlefield and The Pharcyde - Passing me by. It is superb but those guys have an ear for this kind of thing. If as gaslite said the ones on here were put together with an inhouse team, they'll be shit.

  • RobotRocker #21 2 years ago

Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead Or Alive" vs Limp Bizkit - "Rollin' (Urban Assault Vehicle)"

    Hahahahahahahah.

    No.
  • kangarootoo #22 2 years ago

    @MiniAmin

    Good link. Well found.

Just listening through it now. They have done an absolutely sold gold job on those mixes (except the Foreigner one, which was a bit rough). The music really captures what twin deck mising is all about. If the kit was a bit cheaper I would buy this on release day, no doubt. I wasn't that impressed till now, but the tunes really make it for me.

Edit: and the Eminem / BEck mix is a bit rubbish too. But so far 90% of it has been top notch.

  • danathjo #23 2 years ago

wow...amazing list there but I just want to listen to it, not play it
how can I cock thrust in my undies to the telly with a turn table, just wouldn't be the same as a guitar :)
  • schnide #24 2 years ago

How can you diss Weezer, even without the rest of the line-up that's a bit dodge? That joke's getting a bit old now.
  • VicViper #25 2 years ago

    @MiniAmin

Nice link, the Daft Punk megamix 1 its as good as I hoped.

Also on a side note someone is a bit excessive with the negative repping, DJ hero stealth hate I guess
  • paulf #26 2 years ago

oh well with this and mw2 I guess thats my 4 week activision boycott gone then, besides I dont have enough plastic periphirals cluttering up my flat
  • kangarootoo #27 2 years ago

"Also on a side note someone is a bit excessive with the negative repping, DJ hero stealth hate I guess"

Looks like the wind has changed direction :)
  • kangarootoo #28 2 years ago

    @svd_grasshopper

They used mashups because the gameplay is based around spinning two different tracks on two different desks... you know... the way DJs do.
  • MrChuckles #29 2 years ago

I must be getting old, most of those tracks sounded quite annoying on the youtube link, or were they just playing DJ Hero badly?

(Disappears in a sea of negative feedback!)
  • cam_guin #30 2 years ago

*So* many mash-ups...its going to be soundtracked like a student disco circa 2001... :-/

  • el_pollo_diablo #31 2 years ago

From what I've heard you're not really doing your own scratches, you're trying to match those done by the real 'dj hero' - be that Cut Chemist or the titmouse from the black eyed peas.
  • The_Bloody_Kettle #32 2 years ago

    No thanks.

Good tracks, but far too gimmicky for me!
  • Ryze #33 2 years ago

Nice, but not getting £100 from me I'm afraid...!
  • bemaniac #34 2 years ago

i just went dizzy this has pretty much some dream mixes and and has my 2 fave artists beck and weezr which is weird!
  • David_Richardson #35 2 years ago

"djing is about mixing YOURSELF on the FLY, expressing your unique style. you know... the way djs do - not interacting with premixed tracks when prompted. bollocks!"

Driving a car is about feeling YOURSELF behind the WHEEL, understanding the road. You know...the way racing drivers do - not moving the analogue stick when prompted. Bollocks!

Shooting a gun is about putting YOURSELF on the BATTLEFIELD, fearing death. You know...the way soldiers do - not pushing the trigger when prompted. Bollocks!

This argument has always been terrible.
  • JaysonG #36 2 years ago

Have to buy it... Have to... Gah. So Expenisve.
  • galerian86 #37 2 years ago

    Vanilla Ice? Really?
  • el_pollo_diablo #38 2 years ago

    @ dave richardson

svd_grasshopper is right. Your comparisons don't hold up because you're comparing a creative activity against two completely unrealted things.

    Edit: unrealted? Unrelated. Sorry.

I think this will be a great game, I have mentored dj's in hip hop scratching for nearly 20 years and think this will have a good impact.t there! As for mashups what is hip hop at it's essence, mc's rapping over old r&b beats lets think about mashups (Kayne west, Jay Z, ICE T, Cube, Eminem, Eric B & Rakim, NWA etc etc
