Activision quiet X360 Quake 3
No comment on ESRB listing.
id Software's publishing partner Activision has remained quiet on rumours that Quake III will be heading to 360, refusing to comment on "rumour and speculation".
The idea popped into the Internet hive-mind after the ESRB site produced a listing for the game on Microsoft's console. The entry suggests it's being handled by Pi Studios, which has previously been tasked with developing a map editor for Halo 2 Vista, as well as console versions of Mercenaries 2 and the Call of Duty 2 series.
However, it does leave the rather obvious question as to why anyone would re-release the older game with Quake IV already available on the system. The theory is that this will be an Xbox Live Arcade offering, which would suit the game's size and content.
Quake III Arena is a multiplayer-focused game that launched for PC back in 1999. It was the first time the series had broken away from a story-driven single-player campaign, which it reverted to in 2005 for Quake IV.
We happen to be rather proficient at Quake III map The Longest Yard, and fancy our chances against you lot if this X360 offering turns out to be true. What do you think about that?

Anyway, Q3 is the best Quake ever. It's the best PC FPS ever. It rocked on DC. It will rock my world.

I wish Quake 4 would get the extra maps that PC owners have had since day one. The Xbox 360 version only has FOUR maps in all and there is only so many times you can play on them before it gets dull.

I like to think of the perfect FPS in the same 'should we change it' bracket as football i.e. there's no need to **** with the beautiful game, and for me QW CTF was the absolute perfection of multi-player FPS. Absolute beauty!

Erm, because it's actually fun, I'd suppose...
Not sure anyone hardcore enough to still play it would prefer to play it on a joypad, however.
Well. Maybe.
I don't personally have a stick up my arse about console FPS games, but certainly, it takes a concerted effort to create an FPS for a console which works well on a PC, and vice versa.
