Activision quiet on "leaked" GHIII list

Hasn't announced anything yet.

Activision has sung "We Haven't Announced Anything Yet" to Eurogamer this afternoon, in response to a full track list for Guitar Hero III appearing online.

The full compliment of songs appeared on website Aeropause, apparently leaked from a Gamespot friend in the know.

If it all proves accurate, you could be throwing your overgrown hair around to the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, Tenacious D and The Sex Pistols. That's on top of familiar faces like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns n' Roses etc.

Move your eyes towards the bottom of your monitor for a full run down from stage to stage. And don't forget this is all unconfirmed.

  • nickthegun #2 4 years ago

So i wont be able to play Sabotage unless I play co-op, or did someone just turn over two pages at once?
  • gieltjegitaar #3 4 years ago

I sure hope the Dragonforce song doesn't end up in the Career setlist, seems pretty impossible to play judging by the video from ScoreHero.

    Get in!!
If that is the full track listing, which to be fair it looks like it is, then i am happier than a pig in shit!!

    @ nickthegun,
Thats a good point, i have gh2 but i cant get the co-op achievments.

"So i wont be able to play Sabotage unless I play co-op, or did someone just turn over two pages at once?"

I doubt they'd do that, since there'd still be the note chart for lead guitar. I think they are just co-op tracks with the backing played by the computer in SP.
  • Entity #8 4 years ago

    O.o a Muse song, hope that's true
  • polymorph #9 4 years ago

Or they are simply bonuses for people who actually play in co-op?
  • polymorph #10 4 years ago

  • TWIGishere #11 4 years ago

    Awesome list.. urmmm.. dude!!
  • ResidentKnievel #12 4 years ago

Will all those songs be on the DS as well though?
  • JohnnyM Verified , Eurogamer.net #13 4 years ago

Please be true, please be true! The version they had at Microsoft's event yesterday only had about 10 tracks on it. The new Battle Mode's cool, mind.
  • polymorph #14 4 years ago

    @ JohnnyM,
    New battle mode??
  • DUFFKING #15 4 years ago

    "O.o a Muse song, hope that's true"

It's true, that was announced years* ago

    *a month or two
  • tonyferrino #16 4 years ago

    "Sunshine Of Your Life" ???
  • Restart #17 4 years ago

What a terribly disappointing set list, only interesting addition are like the "boss" encounters.
  • JohnnyM Verified , Eurogamer.net #18 4 years ago

    @polymorph

Yeah, in Battle Mode star power's replaced by a system that lets you screw with your opponent. Nail the relevant series of notes and tilt the guitar, and you can 'snap a string' (which means they have to hammer a certain button repeatedly to make it work again), or flip the controls so everything's backwards, or do something where you have to hammer the whammy bar before you can play again. It's pretty simple stuff, but really fun in practise.

I've never owned a GH title... how much time does it take to work thru a Tier on Easy? The song I'm interested in (Cherub Rock) is in Tier 6.

Seriously, the first time I played a guitar hero game, I started on easy, and 5 starred pretty much every song first go. I actually had to try to fail a song on easy. 5 starring hard was a bit more difficult though.
  • JohnnyM Verified , Eurogamer.net #21 4 years ago

    @Feanor

Easy's, well, ridiculously easy but isn't very satisfying at all. The game doesn't really come alive until you get onto Hard and Expert. But you'll be surprised how quickly you get your head around it, I think, and there are tutorial modes etc.
It does actually help a great deal at first if you know your way around a real guitar.
  • PinkSpider #22 4 years ago

Ack - not for me thanks, only one or two songs I like and they are bonus tracks. And no freezepop (Sigh, Harmonix - they are in Rock Band right?!).

Guitar Hero has gone downhill since 1 in my book. Even with the superior mutiplayer me and my mate only play the first, mainly for the track selection.
  • FortysixterUK #23 4 years ago

Reasonable list, but still not the one I would have liked...until they release a " track converter" to allow you to make your own fret tracks up with YOUR choice of music, the game will never quite be right...but of course, they will probably never do it...loss of revenue etc etc.

But to be honest, if it was guaranteed to work, I'd pay £99.99 as a one off payment to get the software that would so this on my 360.
  • Tuffty #24 4 years ago

Personally, I would be very happy if this setlist was true. Some killer songs in there like 3's & 7's, Knights of Cydonia, Number Of The Beast, One, Sunshine Of Your Love, La Grange. If I had my way I would have removed Disturbed, AFI and Slipknot entirely and maybe put in some Thin Lizzy & Rory Gallagher but with music games that this, it's impossible to please everyone (not least the GH diehards that want some obscure Swedish death metal).

However I don't think it's all true. She Builds Quick Machines by Velvet Revolver were confirmed to be in the final game and there's no mention of them on that setlist. Sonic Youth is a definite confirmation though, so expect to play Kool Thing.

Dragonforce is a definite bonus song BTW. Noone could pass the Expert career mode otherwise! :)

Great list. Going to be annoying if you can't get Sabotage in single player mode though. Mind you, it's not exactly known for it's guitar solo.

Hope the Brothers Chaps contribute another secret track. 'Because, it's midnite' by Limozeen would be good. Or how about everyone's favourite prog rockers Sloshy?
  • sailesh #30 4 years ago

    zomg - SONIC YOUTH!!!!!!!
  • AXLE #31 4 years ago

When is this out for release? Is it October?
  • chischis #32 4 years ago

    My god, that tracklist sucks.

But it's still worth buying for Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll. The best song on there, no question. (Well alright, maybe it ties with "Sunshine Of Your Love".)

Take your hair metal, emo, grunge bullshit away. Away now, I say!

Not dreadful, really; a fairly good mix of genres and styles. It's not nearly as annoying as GH2's at any rate, and even that turned out to be good fun to play in any case. I wish I could go back and play GH1 though. Just can't deal with the system of it anymore.

At a guess, I'd say that you can play through the campaign in single-player or co-op; either way, you'll probably unlock both Encore songs when you finish a tier. It just changes which one's played depending on which mode you're in.

thisisatempaccount: Wasn't "Because, It's Midnite" on Rock the 80s? If so, I really doubt it'll be on this.

Something else I wanted to add, I'm sure, but I can't remember what...
