Activision prices DJ Hero at GBP 108
Retailers confirm suggested price.
UK retailer ShopTo has told Eurogamer that DJ Hero carries a suggested retail price of GBP 107.99. That came directly from Activision, we were told.
ShopTo snips that to GBP 94.85, for the game plus DJ turntable peripheral. It's a significant mark-up on the GBP 70 that Guitar Hero plus peripheral launched at here.
Frustratingly, DJ Hero will only cost Americans 120 dollars, according to GameStop - which translates to around GBP 73.
HMV, which offers DJ Hero for GBP 99.99, told Eurogamer it is "going with its own price on this". Other local retailers are yet to wade in.

If you must play every single game ever released, regardless of whether it appeals to you, then to be frank price shouldn't be your primary concern.

Who advised them this was an appropriate price point? RBS?
£79.99 would be far more realistic and even that is pushing it a bit

Well, that's not quite the correct way to compare prices with our US cousins, it is? The $120 quoted is without sales tax, so doing a direct currency conversion and adding the necessary VAT to the full price and you have around £84. Still some way from the £108, but more in line with the quoted UK retailer price of £94.

With this being twice as much AND seeing the poor post product support of World Tour (hello trophies? hello downloadable content which is good? hello importing old tunes?), this is a big ask.
Perhaps we can get Sony to badger Activision and tell them to piss off anyway?

Even my usual devil's advocate nature can't swim upstream on this one.

Activision crack me up, they really do. To think I used to think EA milked the shit out of their customers, even at their peak of cashing in and ripping people off, EA didn't have anything on these muppets!

Even taking VAT out of the equation the UK price is still over 30% more than the US price. Still doesn't sound great to be honest.

Are you out of your miniature mind? Revealing the price of peripheral based games is as standard a bit of news as you might ever find. What on EARTH are you taking exception to in this case?

rotmm is correct, US price is quoted sans sales tax and ours includes VAT; another point is that UK price will also include Import Duty too.
I am not defending Activision, but there is a lot of tax in our price.

And YoJimbo, if you think ANY SINGLE GAME - even if it does come with a crappy plastic add-on - is worth every penny of 108 smackers, you're fucked in the head.

All I care about is what I would have to pay if I bought it in the UK. And £108 is an awful lot of dosh for a single game that can only be played by one person at a time.

1. If ShopTo are the cheapest retailer for this game at the moment, then it is relevant information. If I were buying this, I'd be pleased to be given the heads up.
2. So cocking what? Its not like they have poked you in the eyes with a turd on a stick. If that is what you consider to be "a pretty filthy bit of whoring that could got not get any less subtle" then I can only recommend you never visit the red light district of Amsterdam.
3. This website is free. EG have to make their money somewhere. I'd much rather they mention the odd retailer in articles about buying things than stuff the pages full of ads. Small amounts of text are far preferable to flash roll-outs.

"Its not like they have poked you in the eyes with a turd on a stick."
Wonderful imagery.
There is some kind of symbiotic relationship between ShopTo and Eurogamer: ShopTo have ads built into the Eurogamer site and repost the Eurogamer reviews on their site (which is interesting as it makes it a site that attempts to sell a game with a 2/10 review underneath it).
Neither of which I have a problem with - I hasten to add - just put the stick down.

agree - the Steel Batallion kit was fantastic - solid build and more buttons than you could shake a stick at.
Sold mine ages ago - wish I'd kept it now.

Can't see myself paying the £70-80 (at least) for this at discounted prices.
I know for a fact that [eripherals of this nature would cost about £6.50 to produce. add this to the game and you can see that Activision are making a decent profit off this product when you would expect them to be selling the peripheral at cost bundled with the game which would be their profit...
