Activision: no LEGO Indy demo for consoles News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

14 May, 2008

Activision has told Eurogamer there will be no console demos for LEGO Indiana Jones.

The only way you'll be able to give it a twirl before release is on PC, then, for which a demo is already alive and whipping; pop over to the official site to grab it.

LEGO Indiana Jones re-tells the stories of the first three Steven Spielberg films: Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Temple of Doom, and the Last Crusade.

Like the LEGO Star Wars outings, developer Traveller's Tales will be piecing it together with a liberal sprinkling of humour and puzzle solving, which usually turns out to be brilliant for children like me or adults like you.

There are no Force powers in this, obviously, so you will be swishing your whip to swing across gaps and flick switches. You'll also get to do plenty of brawling where you will be able to pick up bottles and smash them, Hollywood-style, across the heads of your enemies.

TT is promising around 60 familiar faces from the cult adventure films to collect, and you can swap LEGO torsos and legs to make your own Indiana Jones hybrids.

LEGO Indiana Jones is coming to Xbox 360, PC, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii and DS on 6th June. Check out our recent hands-on for more details.

The upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film comes out next Thursday, 22nd May.

Think this'll be a purchase, regardless...just a case of which platform to get it on! :D

It's out, and buggy as f*ck. Shame, because when it does work it's brilliant. Console demo -- NOW!

What is buggy about it? I completed the demo without running into any problems. You do not really need a demo either, if you liked Lego Star Wars you will like this, if you didn't then you wont. Simple as that (unless you just didn't like the sci-fi setting) really.

Mmm, I rather doubt I'll buy this without a demo. And indeed I'll wait for the complete collection.

I always get suspicious when you get a demo for one machine only. What you hiding activision. Is it a patch on first day of release jobbie?

Hmmm, fishy. I'll wait for reviews and if they're not excellent then i'll wait for the inevitable collection release.
I want Batman more anyway. This is disappointing as the Star Wars games were excellent, i hope this is a case of spending more time on the game than a demo but why do a PC demo?! Very strange indeed. o_0

The demo on the PC is quite good shows off some of the new concepts in the game quite nicely. Not sure why anyone would say it was buggy it played perfectly on my comp.

mine too. Plugged in a 360 pad and it maps all the buttons lovely. No bugs. No problems. Nothing special just a cute fun little game :)

"What is buggy about it?"

Sometimes it runs with all black background and almost wireframe characters.

Sometimes it has noise/ snow in bands across it, rendering it unplayable.

Sometimes it just won't even start, and it tries to log a message to Msoft after dumping to desktop.

Sometimes it works just fine.

That's 'buggy' in my book.

None of those problems have affected me at any point and since your the only one who is reporting them on this comment section they are probably very rare.

Didn't have any problems with it, and it's a lot of fun to play.
Very similar to the Star Wars games though, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you were tired of those..

Rare or not, it's happening to me, unlike with all other demos.

I'm finding it slightly buggy too, with a flickering box on the bottom left hand side of the screen. Doesn't happen with any other demo or game.
