Activision licenses UE3
Jumps on Epic bandwagon.
The Unreal Engine 3 bandwagon keeps on rolling, and the latest company to hop on board is Activision, who has licensed the technology to create an as-yet undisclosed action title.
"The Unreal Engine is one of the most technically advanced engines on the market and is a perfect fit for our upcoming action game," said Laird Malamed, head of production for Activision. "The engine's robust suite of programming tools will enable our development team to deliver what is sure to be an amazing game experience."
Unfortunately the publisher was unavailable to divulge any further details, such as who will be developing the title, and which platforms we'll see it on.
It's a bit of an odd choice for Activision, who continues to work closely with engine-creator id Software, but then it wouldn't be the first large company to snatch up the impressive technology from Epic, with Final Fantasy creators Square Enix announcing recently that it had secured UE3 to help its development for next-generation machines.
