Activision doing Wolverine movie tie-in News

PC PlayStation 2 PSP DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

9 December, 2008

Activision plans to pop out an X-Men Origins: Wolverine videogame to accompany the film next spring.

Raven Software, of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends background, will take the helm, developing for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii and DS. That's quite a spread.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine follows and furthers the plot of the film; the escape from the Weapon X factory, the jungles of Africa, and the mutant powers of the grizzly fighter.

Those powers - two sets of retractable adamantium claws and a near invulnerable adamantium skeleton - lend themselves rather well to third-person combat. And Activision promises plenty of devastating combos, "brutal finishing moves" and acrobatics.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine film launches next May, according to IMDB, so expect the game to be released around then.

There's nothing else to go on just yet, but we'll let you know when something emerges.

...... I'm sure the game will be awesome :/
Looking forward to the film mind, quite a groovy cast and an 'interesting' choice of director, hope it'll be fantastic. The first trailer's being shown with The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Yeah, I'm a movie geek, even more so than a gaming one :)

Another game I won't enjoy as much as Marvel Ultimate Alliance, no doubt.

Though the movie will rock. I always thought Ryan Reynolds would be awesome as Deadpool, so when I found out their casting person thought the same, I knew I'd enjoy the movie.

I'm more intrigued by Kevin Durand playing 'The Blob', the guy was a hateful twat in last season's Lost, and pretty darned cool in Smokin' Aces.

But claws are a mutation, so I guess you could call them a power - he had all the adamantium ripped out of his body once, and turn out the claws were just adamantium clad like the rest of his bones, so he stil had claws.

Probably Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden type game. If it's as good as any of those at their best, then who knows. Unless they decide to make it a fist person slasher.

The X-Men movies released heretofore were excellent. And I'm really not a fan of US comics.

Unfortunately, a movie-tie-in game has "awful game" written on the front in red, capital letters. Were the recent X-Men games movie tie-ins as well? I vaguely remember them being good?

You ditch Brutal Legends for a movie franchise spin-off tie-in?

Up yours, Activision.

Well I have to admit they do use the word "Epic" alot in movies, so if you add that to your last word, I think we have the answer :D

I'll be stunned if this isn't crap. More games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance please: decent, cheesy plot a cast of thousands with loads of fan service and decent beat-em-up gameplay. That was fucking genius and way overdue, even on the Wii which didn't have the flash graphics and some control issues.

Wolverine is cool, the X-men movies are, the games on the other hand are reasonably at best.....

The fact that they are making this for alle platforms is a bad sign. Time is extremely limited on these projects if you have to make a game for all platforms........ Not enough time to make something decent.

The saddest part is - It'll be crap and it will sell more copies than a good game

EG: "Those powers - two sets of retractable adamantium claws and a near invulnerable adamantium skeleton - lend themselves rather well to third-person combat."

You forgot his acute olfactory powers?
A little sniffing minigame, perhaps?

Maybe he dosens have those sharp senses in the movies, come to think about it.

The movie might be ok, it all depends on the director as the 3rd xmen movie proved. This game will suck and sell millons. If it does not suck, I will repent this statement by buying it and playing it to completion.
