Acti mute on Guitar Hero IV track list News

News by Robert Purchese

24 July, 2008

Activision has refused to comment on the authenticity of a leaked Guitar Hero World Tour track list.

The monster pile of songs appeared on GameFAQs and traces back to an email by the same person who leaked the Guitar Hero III track list, apparently.

Our favourites are "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, "Johnny B Goode" by Chuck Berry, and "Paradise City" by Guns N' Roses.

Big names such as Pearl Jam, Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy, Nirvana ("Smells Like Teen Spirit"), Van Halen and Lynyrd Skynyrd ("Sweet Home Alabama") are all in.

yeah not bad at all! Shame its not the fall out boy version of Beat It which is a bit more rocky. And would be good played in a band.

Colour me surpised if Pink Floyd have actually agreed to that - one of the best solos of all time surely?

If they get the notation right in this game then this is a winner.
Three Tool songs and Hallowed Be Thy Name; very nice.

I'll be pissed if that's all true, as I'd prefer a lot of it on the rival - Tool especially. LOT of RB2 crossover, too.

The only time I'll say this; I hope it's not true. Mainly because, if it is, I'd probably buy it - and GH III was a mess, making me expect no less of this. The E3 showing of Hot For Teacher made that dread worse, to be honest; it just looked, well, cluttered and overcomplicated, with trademark Neversoft bad note charts.

I'd brand that track list a winner, generally. Plenty of tracks to look forward to, assuming it's accurate.

Overall, that is a pretty awesome list. At least 10 songs stood out straight away as great choices.

@sanctusmortis

Did they say it was out, or just that they had learned? I expect a modified version, but the opportunity to have signature battle tracks is just too appealing for marketing suits for its to get dropped altogether :)

What I think would be a really cool idea, is a an anthology version that gives you access to the tracks from all previous versions.

I can't believe they still haven't announced anything regarding DLC. Rock Band (1 and 2) will have 500+ songs available as DLC by the end of the year (plus 80+ songs on the RB2 discs, and 50+ songs on RB1). That will be around 630 songs by the end of the year, compared to 80+ songs for GH:WT??

@Ceatlan

Given that RB2 will use any of your previously purchased RB DLC, AND import the disc songs from RB, you would certainly hope GH4 will do the same.

If they weren't planning on doing so, they probably are now :)

@Erinan

RB2 actually just said 500 songs. I suspect that includes the existing tracks (all the RB1 songs will be available for purchase, for those who don't already own the disc). Pretty impressive all the same. Though as I suggest above, we can't start making such specific comparisons because we don't know the full extent of what GH4 has planned.

Yeah, what's next? Guitar battle vs. Phil Collins?

Also, how in the heck have they managed to get all the way to the fourth installment without including a single Gary Moore track?

I don't get the battle vs Sting. At all.
Surely it should be Andy Summers?
And even then, it's a step down from Slash and Tom Morello. Not that he isn't a great guitarist, but he's not gonna sell to 'the kidz!'

On the plus side - Assassin! That would be even more epic if it's Grand Omega Bosses edit. That rawks! \m/
The drums in Assassin are especially killer, though. Can definitely see why they've chosen it.

Another thought (sorry for loads of posts, I should think *then* post): I'm almost positive that the Chilis don't have a song called 'Take It Away'. Perhaps 'Give It Away' is what's meant?

Some great choices, like Boys Are Back In Town and Song For The Dead (my word can you imagine the drums for that? That would be an instant purchase for me) but some bad ones as well like Linkin Park and MCR.

Holy craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap.

I must say, if it has Fury Of The Storm, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Dragula, and Kickstart my Heart in the same game I am sold in mere seconds.

I still can't understand why they don't use Megadeth's Holy Wars, because that is the best metal song in existence.
