Namco Bandai has made some running repairs to Ace Combat 6.

The title update is available on Live, and should make the online side of the game a little more seamless and balanced. They say.

Chief among the changes are point penalties for doing silly things like crashing, leaving the battlefield or being shot down in Team Battle and Battle Royale modes. Similarly you can now gain points for damaging an aircraft and not necessarily destroying the bogey outright.

Those of you doing the dying will now be invulnerable for a short period of time on respawn, your in-game HUD should display points lost and won, and special weapons have been tweaked to balance things up.

You will also be able to see who is talking in the pre-game lobby thanks to a little microphone icon next to their Gamertag - useful for singling out those who sound strange.

It wasn't very fun for me. Apart from the fact that it misses a lot of very obvious stuff, as the title update shows, the online side is home to a bunch of guys that are really good at the game and handed me my arse on a platter in all imaginable ways. Which wasn't fun, so I gave up.

There is a co-op mode? How did I miss that?

Anyways, if you're into Ace Combat, it's a massive dogfight online. Nothing quite like it out there and it's really very well done, although not for everyone.

Except I felt like a right muppet because my teammates were doing most of the work and I was constantly trying to catch up to them :P. And it has only two co-op missions, which is a bit of a shame.

Saying that most people jump in the CF-44 or the F-22 and it makes for a really dull game. Try it in an A-10, much better.

Would really like to buy this game, but I just canna get it captain (lack of dosh due to upcoming wedding), shame cos by the time I do, everyone online will be uber good at it :(

Well Ace Combat 6 certainly lived up to its namesake IMO, what a terrific game, by far the best in the series that I've played. Shame about the rip-off DLC though but at least some of it was free.

The truth about this game is simple. All the people who don't like it are utter plonkers who take themselves far too seriously.
