360 Final Fantasy XIII for Japan?

Xbox.com suggests so.

An Achievement list on the official Xbox website suggests Final Fantasy XIII will be released for the Xbox 360 in Japan.

Sprawling role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII was released on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the West.

In Japan, however, it is a PS3 exclusive. Is that about to change?

The Achievement list (Xbox Live login required – thanks Andriasang) spills the beans.

Apparently nearly all games that have had their Japanese language Achievements discovered in advance of official release announcement were later released.

The big gaming news of E3 2008 was, of course, that Final Fantasy XIII would be released on the Xbox 360. The announcement drove some absolutely mental.

    A quick look at Xbox.com says that it is the same game with 35 achievements.

    I don't see the use of this. At least a few happy people then.

    If the release pattern from the last generation holds they must be due Final Fantasy XIII International soon. My guess is they'll do a 360 version too for that.

    Here's hoping the western market is treated to an international version too this time around with the original audio reinstated.

    Those poor Japanese 360 owners - they were almost spared from having to play one of the worst games this generation. They were so close...

    Oh, article edit to remove the detail of "it has less achievements". I now look like I am imagining things.

    Still have to force myself to finish this game sometime, but so far it looks like it could be the final FF for me (didn't like 12 either).

    Maybe they will iron out some of the problems the engine had in the western release, but I doubt it.

    I only recently started playing this game. It's okay. But Blue Dragon is MUCH better.

    you guys seem to focus on the faxt that a XBOX360 version is useless, but you forget one thing:

    that game is half boredom, and the other half rubbish.

    It's still a very good news, however FEW the gamers who doesn't also have PS3 in Japan, sure the X360 version is pretty inferio, just as there are few quite inferior PS3 version of a certain games (ignoring the slight variations), but doesn't mean those gamers are not able to enjoy the game?!

    Everyone accepted that PS3 version of FFXIII is the one to go for, IF it is an option for you but still worth playing, however disappointing, linear, or too rpg-lite the game are in your view.

    Utter nonsense, you're thinking of MGS4, FFXIII for the most part is actual gameplay and if it needs blu ray then why is it on the 360?

    i wish it is really will come to ASIA region, and have jap voice act + eng subtitle. or dual voice.

    Unless Square have spent this time upping the resolution and re-encoding the pre-rendered cut scenes I can't see the Japanese queueing 'round the block for this one.

    Yes, hi resolution videos, actual gameplay still takes up the majority of the game.

    Going by the logic in this comments section, "why bother" with just about all PS3 multiplat games, right? They're inferior versions, so let's just ask that they stop being made.

    Some of you are cynical to the point of retardation. This is obviously not a bad thing for gamers.

    While 360 might not be as technically hot as PS3, Square gimped the 360 release back for their own reasons. Don't forget, Sony own shares in Square, and might have railroaded such actions early on, in desperation to sell more PS3's.

    Mmmm.....didn't really work, did it Sony? Clearly safe to give japan the 360 version months late. Kind of smells a bit nationalist too.

    Surely this explains The Last Remnant. Or Star Ocean 4... or everything Square on 360 that only made the cut on PS3 months later.
