2K Steam bundle a heap of cheap

Save over a hundred quid!

2K Games has bundled 20 games together on Steam for the budget price of GBP 35.99.

Among them are BioShock, Civilization IV (plus expansions), Civilization III, Prey, Freedom Force and Sid Meier's Pirates!

We make the combined total of all 20 games sold separately GBP 141.71. Even buying Civilization IV plus expansions Warlords, Beyond the Sword and Colonization costs more than GBP 35.99.

If that doesn't sort you out for a weekend then nothing will.

Argh, I own pretty much all of them already!
  • Bitkari #3 3 years ago

I own more than half the game in this pack already...

But still very tempting, if only so I've an excuse to gift UFO: Enemy Unknown to someone! :]
  • spudsbuckley #4 3 years ago

am gonna buy this then go trade them in 4 more than i payed.

I don't think you fully understand Steam.......
  • weejok #5 3 years ago

@ #2 Hmmmm.... Going to trade in digital download copies? How does that work exactly?
  • schachmatt #6 3 years ago

I think he does. He's got them physically already; he'll be trading in those copies.

I think I'll take a pass on this bundle, but only because I already have too much to ever be able to play through. Too much choice! Can't cope!
  • endintears #7 3 years ago

As someone who isn't a big user of steam can someone clarify - is this a time limited offer?
  • Waffleaber #8 3 years ago

"Even buying Civilization IV plus expansions Warlords, Beyond the Sword and Colonization costs more than GBP 35.99."

Except the exact same steam store already has them bundled for £24.99

I've been looking for an excuse to buy civ4 though, the inclusion of the railroad tycoons and X-Com games is enough to get me to buy this. Oh and to see what all the fuss was about over Bioshock.
  • sneetch #9 3 years ago

    @endintears

I don't think so, they do have a lot of weekend deals but there's no mention of any expiry date and given the creaky age of a lot of the (excellent) selection of games I doubt it.

Great value if you don't already own half of it. :)

BTW: I've largely switched to Impulse games for my gaming needs, better deals there for example CoD 4 is $34.99/€25.07 a bit expensive for a 2 year old game but a hell of a lot better than the $39.99/€50 EUR on Steam, no seriously $40 = €50, apparently.

There's an extra £4 off that is time limited, so after July 7th, the price goes up to £39.99. Still a great deal, obv.
  • kearneybobs #11 3 years ago

Nice price for the people in the UK, and the US. But those of us who are forced to pay in euros (Ireland) get ripped off at 54 euro.

UK price is about 42 Euro
Us Price is about 38 euro.

Yet we are forced to pay 54 euro which is about $76 or £46
  • Tomo #12 3 years ago

I don't really want any of these, but the collector in me is screaming inside...
  • sneetch #13 3 years ago

    @kearneybobs

Wait, what? I'd only checked the US price. Well screw them, I won't be bothering at that price.
  • Bloodhunter #14 3 years ago

Don't have any, but I don't particularly want any...
  • kearneybobs #15 3 years ago

    @ sneetch.

This has been going on since december of last year. Steam intoduced an Euro pricing structure, and overinflated all thier prices. Now when they put games on special offer they end up only matching retail. Nobody wants to publicise it too.

I would buy this bundle but the conversion rate is outrageous. We in Europe are paying WAAYYYY to much and I will be boycotting steam/ games on steam that do not have a good conversion rate. Have a look over in the steam forums in the general discussion section. There is a thread over there so long it cant be ignored, but somehow it is still being ignored to this day.

  • kearneybobs #16 3 years ago

Oh, and to top it all off, there is a tiered pricing structure in place too, so people in Estonia and other countries are paying less for the same games, despite paying in the exact same currency.
  • jiveguy #17 3 years ago

It seems that steam doesn't even want to rip me off. The article link or links to the pack within the steam store just redirect me to the front page of the store. Anyone ever encountered this before?
  • skillian #18 3 years ago

Yep, I've encountered that redirect when I was linked to a game that wasn't available in the UK (EA stuff I think).

I don't know what country you're browsing from, but it might be the case that this package simply isn't available there.
  • Tyronne #19 3 years ago

The steam sales are pretty good, its just a shame that most of the new games are priced higher than it would be to pick them up from play or anywhere else online.
  • AphoticCosmos #20 3 years ago

    Fucking hell.

    That is absolutely ridiculous.

@ Poster below me - the deal :) I'm usually happy with Steam prices.

What's ridiculous? The DEAL or the crazy pricing on steam?

I know, I posted in that thread during the initial uproar before realising that we were pissing into the wind and Valve would be continuing to ignore it. The last game I bought through Steam was L4D which I bought for $40 or so before they forced us to buy through Euro (actually, I tell a lie I pre-ordered Zeno Clash for 50% off, about €7.50) and I won't be going anywhere near them again at those prices. The best - indeed only - thing we can do is go elsewhere. A lot of it is the individual publishers fault rather than Valves but I honestly don't care who's responsible: I''ll buy the bargains but I won't be paying that kind of money for these games.

BTW, in case people are wondering about the price difference if you put "?cc=us", "?cc=uk" or "?cc=ie" at the end of the URL (without quotes) then you'll be able to see the prices in USD, Sterling and Euro respectively.

Edit: "I'm posted"? I r not got gud englsh lol!

"I'm usually happy with Steam prices"

I would be too if i lived in the UK or had the aility to pay in GB pounds. But when converted into Euros, we get absolutely ripped off.
I have bought two games/bundles through steam since the price changeover. GTA bundle and Braid. I bought braid cause is was fairly priced across all territories.
  • Widge #24 3 years ago

Tempted by this and fallout 3 as I don't have any of those on PC.
  • Setaro #25 3 years ago

To all those people in Europe complaining (justifiably) about Steam games having inflated Euro prices when compared to Pounds (for example, £30 for Empire: Total War if you're connecting from the UK, but 50 euros if you're in europe), simply get an England-based friend to log on your account and buy it for the lower price in pounds (or simply buy it as a gift for you on their account and transfer them the money via paypal or something).

    There, job done, money saved.

  • dingo75 #26 3 years ago

    ^^
Or buy games from Amazon.co.uk or any other UK based retailer.
I only use Steam for deeply discounted games and Weekend offers.
For me Steam is like renting software so I'm only willing to pay renting money + the conversion is an insult to the intelligence of European customers. We are not stupid and now how to handle currency converters you US pricks at Valve!
Same applies to play.com that has some highly "creative" conversion rates as well resulting in my amazon.co.uk orders from me.
  • hahayou #27 3 years ago

It's not exactly an article-worthy discount. Without even shopping around I see that you can get Civ 4 complete + Colonization + Bioshock + Prey for 33 quid on amazon. And as for the older stuff they have FF:TR for 90p...
  • the_mtfr #28 3 years ago

@dingo75 "We are not stupid and now how to handle..."

    "now how" --> "know how"

    ;)
  • shotgun44 #29 3 years ago

I generally find that Steam prices are fairly good...

    Oh well, my life, innit.
  • Spekingur #30 3 years ago

This is how it looks like for me:
    -----------------------------------------------
    Individual price $229.80
    Package price $59.99
    Limited Time Discount -$6.00

    Ends July 7

    Cost to you $53.99
    You save $175.81
    -----------------------------------------------

I actually didn't know that 2K Games owned the UFO/X-COM license. I wish they would start a new XCOM project based on the original game. And do it properly (essentially the same game but with better graphics and not trying to add new things that they "think" will improve it).

[edit - also, what steam needs to allow its users to do: choose an additional steam games/apps directory on another HDD and if buying stuff that we already own the additional things we buy it automagically becomes a gift.]

This offer is a month late. From Play.com and the traders on there got all the Civ 4 games for £25 it was mainly for Colonization and the expansions as I already had Civ 4.

But the North American version is the best as there is no DRM and Colonization is included with all the expansions.
