250GB PS3 Slim bundle for October?

Rumoured GAME exclusive to cost €350.

Eurogamer Spain is reporting that Sony will introduce a 250GB PS3 Slim as soon as October this year.

The console will be bundled with a copy of FIFA 10 and be exclusive to GAME, according to the report. The package will cost €350 (£307).

Sony Europe has declined comment.

The PS3 Slim launched here last week and boosted sales of the console by 1000 per cent. That unit houses a 120GB hard-drive.

This isn't the first we've heard of a 250GB model, however, after FCC filings from May outlined two production models: 120GB and 250GB.

I just can't see anyone going for this bundle, does the extra drive space make that much difference, 120GB is plenty enough for most people. Never mind the fact that 500GB drives cost around £60 these days and they are easy as pie to fit.

    Who cares - I stuck a 500GB in mine

Assuming it's true and the UK price is correct (could it be £299?) then that's not a bad deal. You could buy a 120 GB PS3 Slim (£229) now and fit your own third-party 250 GB or even 320 GB HDD for £35-£45 (using eBuyer's prices) and buy FIFA 10 seperately (£40) but it would end up costing either the same or more. Great for technophobes and people who shudder at the thought of having to use a screwdriver!

You could include a copy of fifa with a frozen dogshit over here in Madrid and it would sell.
Combined with the fact almost no-one here gets the fact the 360 is viable competition and Sony probably has a winner on their hands.

@Steve i do sometimes, mainly because i can't be arssed to buy stuff online, im signed up to that many sites i just forget my passwords all the time. Plus their reward scheme isn't to bad for pre orders. I usually buy sceond hand now as well so there cheaper in most cases than buying a new game online.

...and negs on my other comment how does that work, i mearly gave you a link for a cheap hard drive thats bigger than the one on offer. Im helping you by saving you money you ungrateful git.

Where the hell did you get £350 for a 250GB PS3?

Methinks you should look at the article again.

Sony finally level the playing field with a clear one size fits all model. So what next? Confuse everyone with a new SKU! Well done.

According to some reports, the PS3 make-over and price drop has resulted in sales rocketing 1000%.

Order have been restored, Ps3 will be the best selling console of this generation by the time its all said and done.Wii aint that cheap not that the Ps3 price have droped, motion controll will be added to both Ps3 and Xbox360 next year and the technologie of the PS3 its much more future proof then the one presented in both the Xbox or Wii, not to mention FF, God of War3 and Uncharted 2 among many other AAA exclusives coming out.

Same roumors were heard about 2 weeks ago for the 360 from a "slip" on a website advertisement of the store. On that one it was half proof the fact they saw at least online. ( you know.. the clasic mistakes the past couple of years ). So not like it matters. I guess, specially for the ppl interested into buying a PS3 shouldnt be important. Why would they get so ripped off when they can buy faster HDDs for less money? I mean even all those kiddos that hear PlayStaion and they go nuts for that and only can figure out that they can buy an HDD for way cheaper themselves, I would suppose.

Can't help but think this might be overcomplicated for some people. If anything Sony should release a version with a smaller hard drive for less money, a lot of people fall for those "from £179.99!!!" type posters in shop windows you know.
  • Bravestinsane #15 2 years ago

    @Chess...

    PSPGO £250 $250 (euro sign) 250

You really think this is going to be cheaper. It may not be £350 but i sure as hell think it will be more than £300.
  • danathjo #16 2 years ago

    Oh man...why WHY?
Just stick with the 120, the only type of person that will need more space is someone that will probably already know about upgrading it yourself, ie not the average buyer...don't confuse the customersnow that you have there interest again FFS

"GAME lol... people still buy stuff from there?"

Yeh superlolz GAME suckz azz. Woot. All your base etc.
  • ZeroAX #18 2 years ago

    on the one hand

people could just buy a 500gb hardrive with about 50-80 euro if they don't care about fifa

on the other hand it's a free copy of fifa and a pretty large hard drive

and to people complaining why the heck are you complaining?
  • stevetuck #19 2 years ago

Hey well whenever i go into GAME it seems to be more exspensive than both Computer Exchange and Gamestation even though it owns Gamestation :/

But i actually shop at shopto now , they sent me street figter 4 like 3 days early :D
  • septimus #20 2 years ago

@Henry: Music, SD movies, HD movies, recorded programs form PlayTV, 40+ downloaded games, installed BR games. List fgoes on. If you use a PS3 to it's full potential you will want a bigger HDD.

My Elite has 60GB left after installing my most played games, but due to it's standalone multimedia capabilities being a bit wank (and I don't want to dedicate a Windows 7 PC to Media Centre duties for it right now) I find that I won't use all the space the 360 offers. PS3 is a completely different matter.

I also have a 500GB HDD hooked up the PS3 and that only has 100GB left.
  • M_of_the_sys #21 2 years ago

    @HenryVIII

What septimus said. With a system that has such multimedia capability, hard drive space is very valuable.
  • Johnsters #22 2 years ago

    @HenryVIII

I have a 250GB that has only 80GB left due to downloaded games/demos and extensive playTV.
I may upgrade once details of the Movie download service kicks in in November.
  • penhalion #23 2 years ago

Can you upgrade the drive in a slim?

    Genuine question as I have a fat 60gb PS3.
  • almighty-slayer #24 2 years ago

No, sony. Why would it be exclusive to one retailer? That's just silly.

Just make it ONE SKU thank you very much
  • Goodfella #25 2 years ago

    @ penhalion

Yes you can but the hard drive is accessed at the front under the slot drive now.
  • Bazfrag #26 2 years ago

"GAME lol... people still buy stuff from there?"

Only yesterday i saw Batman was a whole £2 cheaper preowned than new! They were also selling Burnout Paradise for £5 more than on psn a while back. What annoys me most about Game/station is when a new console is released and they only sell it as a bundle costing an extra £100+

edit: and they complained about my favourite indy because they had the balls to break release dates. grrr.
