Forza 3 to be bundled with 250GB Xbox

Get the pair next month for 250 quid.

Microsoft has unveiled another 250GB Xbox 360 bundle, this time for Forza Motorsport 3.

Due 23rd October for £249.99, the Super Elite Bundle packs two wireless pads, a headset, regular copy of the game and, of course, a 250GB Xbox 360.

No fancy colour-scheme, though, like the Modern Warfare 2 bundle.

How many more of these bundles Microsoft has we're intrigued to find out.

The platform holder said yesterday that the 250GB HDD is not to be sold separately. But for how long? We'll see.

    Isn't there an ODST bundle as well?
  • thenastypasty #2 2 years ago

    I think the ODST bundle is just the 120GB hard drive plus halo 3.

    I can't remember where I seen it now but I think it was going to retail at £200.

    Yeah, I saw that yesterday too. Doesn't seem as good as either of the COD:MW2 or Forza 3 deals since it's basically just an Elite with Halo 3 and ODST. No fancy artwork, extra controller or 250GB HDD.

    If the MW2 pack is this price then I'd be tempted to get that one, my second hand 20Gb model sounds like a harrier jump jet and is just waiting to red ring again.

    I'm waiting for a good deal (and to get paid) to upgrade my launch model. It's still going, but it's pretty loud for watching things at night, so hopefully the prices are decent and I'll be able to get me a new one.

    Hang on! Just saw the shop.to ad and the RRP has been bumped to £54.99! Cheeky sods, I didn't realise MS were now copying Infinity Ward/Activision. Sometimes I find it hard to justify spending £39.99 on a game, another £5 really puts me off.

    Hmm Play.com have the RRP at £49.99. Interesting.

    @Apostle,

    That's the limited edition RRP.

    The MW2 360 is really disappointing in terms of design. They should've given the design to a design group then it could've ended up looking really good for the kids. With so much military hardware to draw reference from I'm really surprised with what they've come up with – a few numbers on the front and a large "2" on the side! Game designers aren't necessarily any good at graphic design as is true of any designer in their respective fields. At least the Forza people decided against doing a cheap in-house job and are leaving the box plain. Either that or they're actually cool enough to realise patterned consoles are poor taste and childish. What next? Patterned TVs to match our patterned 360s? Hopefully the Forza 360 isn't being marketed with that old 'limited edition' tale.

    Oh, just release the drive. This is like my insurance company charging me more to renew than they charge to new customers. Existing customers are important too you know, you cocks.
  • WinterSnowblind #10 2 years ago

    I assumed we'd be getting this instead of the MW one, considering how well racing sims do over here.
    £250 is a fantastic price as well, was expecting £300 like many said about the other bundle.

    Why would anyone need a 250GB hard drive? It's not as if you can even install your DVD rips onto it to watch is it?
  • Dizzy #12 2 years ago

    "Why would anyone need a 250GB hard drive? It's not as if you can even install your DVD rips onto it to watch is it? "

    Why not? It can't rip the DVDs for you, but it can certainly play them.

    @jensonjet
    I agree
    @moggsy
    Music and game installs my guess.

    Out of the bundles this looks the best VFM and the MW2 design is garbage TBH
  • kendoji #14 2 years ago

    Yep I'd be tempted by this if I could actually copy my movies and tv series to the hard drive. As it is, I'm nowhere near using up my 20GB.
  • coolbritannia #15 2 years ago

    I shall be upgrading my Elite with this badboy. The Modern Warfare 2 one looks a bit cack, plain black FTW
  • CrunchinJelly #16 2 years ago

    £50 extra for all that extra... quite a good deal, actually, which is unusual for these official bundles.
  • coolbritannia #17 2 years ago

    Mapman, i have an Elite and am frequently having to delete stuff to fit new games on. Different gaming habits require different harddrive space i guess.
  • WinterSnowblind #18 2 years ago

    @Apostle
    Use the code 'lastminute09' at GAME and it'll knock £5 off, bringing the CE down to £50.
    Better deal, since Game have an exclusive BMW skin as well as the standard R8 one you get from pre-ordering anywhere.

    @ Dizzy

    I was under the impression that you couldn't play video's (Divx's etc) directly from the hard drive?

    Backed up by this page on the Xbox website which only mentions:

    1. Watching DVD's.
    2. Viewing content downloaded from Xbox Live® Marketplace.
    3. Viewing streaming video from a Microsoft Windows Media Center–based PC.

    So are you talking about a chipped Xbox 360?

    "I was under the impression that you couldn't play video's (Divx's etc) directly from the hard drive? "

    Hmmm possible. I have never tried that TBH. All my content is on a USB HDD and that seems to work just fine.

    I played Forza 3 a couple of days ago at a manager's conference, and fook me is it sexy looking, for anyone with any niggling doubts about the game's looks, don't worry. I was actually shocked at the lack of jaggies and the overall crispness of the whole thing, especially considering Forza 2 was pretty bland in the looks department.
    It's just a shame that I was really really shit at it.
    The game's lead designer was there too and he's veeeery excited about the tyre deformation in the game. :)
  • moggsy #23 2 years ago

    @ Dizzy

    So then back to my original point, why would anyone need a 250GB HDD?
  • TeaFiend #24 2 years ago

    Does the 250GB model have a nickname yet, Arcade, Elite, Premium, etc.
  • Calgon #25 2 years ago

    Hey I was right when I said they might sell it at £250, thats actually quite a good deal there, I can see these bundles selling very well indeed, I might even get the Forza3 one myself(I didnt even like Forza1 that much but it seems to have changed so much for the better since then).

    They really should add a HDMI cable to these bundles too IMO, I'm also thinking whether I need 250GB but isn't it better to have more space than you need? Hard disk drives run faster, if you dont come close to filling them too apparently.

    250 is a bit overkill, but it's certainly better than just having 20.

    Installing games takes up quite a bit of room, but it's nice to be able to do to cut down load times and eliminate noise. I have a lot of XBLA games, which combined takes up a fairly large amount. I store a lot of music on the 360 to use in custom soundtracks. Certain game expansions take up a lot too, Fallout 3 and GTA inparticular. And we're also starting to see games like Forza which requires some of it's content to be installed if you want to access it.

    So yeah, while a 120gb would be more than enough, being able to install more games and download more demo's without having to worry about filling it up would be nice.
  • Shane86 #27 2 years ago

    Anyone know the price in euro?
  • metalangel #28 2 years ago

    @Richardtock: It's the DVD drive that makes the noise, not the fans. But yeah - install your most heavily played games to the hard drive to extend the life of the DVD drive, reduce noise and get better loading times.
