Minecraft is introducing a character creator

Shirts or skins.

For most of Minecraft's life you've been able to make your own custom skin on PC, or download others to make your character stand out when playing. Now, Minecraft is introducing an in-game creator to take that customisation a step further.

Choices, choices. From the Minecraft Live stream.

The latest update for Minecraft's beta build allows players to personalise their avatar's body shape, hairstyles, colours and skin tones, with more than 100 customisation items for free and a range of accessories created by the Minecraft team available to buy.

The beta is currently only available on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Android versions of the game, so you'll need to be on one of these platforms to be able to try out the new feature.

However, if you're not interested in the character creator and are particularly attached to a traditional custom skin, don't worry - you'll still be able to import those the same way you could before.

To get a better idea of what the character creator entails, take a look at the Minecraft livestream below where Mojang devs show off the new feature.

There are more details on the 1.13.0.15 update in the patch notes here, as well as instructions on how to download the beta if you want to give the character creator a try.

When the beta has ended, the character creator will come to all other Bedrock platforms, Microsoft has said, and also Minecraft Earth.
