Super Mario Odyssey Purple Star Bit locations - how to find Purple Star Bits in Super Mario Odyssey

  • Kingdom: Mopon Kingdom
  • Total Coins: 50

The Moon Kingdom is considered one of the smaller kingdoms in the game, so only has 50 Regional Coins to collect. These are shaped like fat stars. Due to altered gravity on the moon, some of these collectibles are located on elevated platforms or up in the air. Keep your eyes out for oddly placed platforms or pillars - these are usually hiding some coins.

There's a big blocky platform to the right of the Odyssey. Use the platform to its left, then jump on the flower bulb jump pad to float to the top. Three coins will be waiting for you when you land. Behind the Crazy Cap store there is a large ramp leading down. Jump down from the top to land inside a hidden alcove and collect three coins for your troubles.

There's also an 8-bit level hidden on the left-hand side of the cliff the Odyssey is on. Look down the side of the cliff on this side and use the Warp Pipe to get in. Gravity is also lighter in here, so use it to reach the coins on the upper part of the section.

To the left of the Odyssey, follow the path around - jumping over the three spinning spike arms - turn left and leap up onto the next platform (you can actually double jump off the side of a wall in this section since the gravity is so low). Now wall jump to the top and claim three coins overlooking an 8-bit section.

Jump back down and look for a moon squid floating by two platforms. Jump over, dodge his red shell attack and claim the vertically placed four Regional Coins on the second platform. Just past these platforms is a bridge with a spinning spike arm. Leap over it then jump to the tall stone pillar. There's another one here with four coins on it to collect.

At the Ringing-Bells Plateau checkpoint, use one of the white speed flowers to speed jump over the cliff edge to the left-hand side and reach the platform with the treasure chest. On the other side, behind the wall, are three more Regional Coins.

From the Ringing-Bells Plateau, use a white speed flower to race across the wide gap to the area with the floating space squid. Use the flower jump pad beneath it to launch up and collect the six Regional Coins above it. Watch out for his red shell attack as well.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

From the Wedding Hall checkpoint (which has to be manually found after completing the main story - it's outside the church where Bowser tries to marry Peach), run around the back and possess the frog. Use the frog to ascend the building and grab the three Regional Coins at the very top of the spire.

From the start of the Underground Caverns, drop down to the lower level, use the Parabones to float across and possess one of the Sherms. Take out the others, then aim for the Regional Coins on the tall pillar. You can't reach them, but you can shoot them, which counts as picking them up. Shoot all three to grab them.

There's also three coins underneath the bridge leading the Spark pylon. Possess a nearby Parabones, dodge fire from the Sherms and fly under to claim your purple prizes.
