Final Fantasy 12 - Goliath location, requirements and strategies for the Rank VI Creature Collector

How to take on Goliath in Final Fantasy 12.

Here on this page of our Final Fantasy 12 Hunts and Marks guide, we'll be taking you through everything you need to know in order to defeat Goliath - a Rank VI Mark for The Creature Collector Hunt - including the Petitioner and Mark's locations, the Hunt requirements, and strategies for the battle itself.

If you're looking for one of the other Marks however, you can head back to our Final Fantasy 12 Hunts and Marks locations, requirements and strategies hub. For other tips and explainers meanwhile, head to our Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age guide and walkthrough, where we cover plenty more.

Goliath and The Creature Collector Hunt location and requirements

Before you get to the actual battle, here's everything you need to know about Goliath and The Creature Collector Hunt:

  • Prerequisites: complete Draklor Laboratory.
  • Recommended level: 50
  • Petitioner location: Barrong, Nalbina Fortress
  • Mark location: Necrohol of Nabudis, Hall of Slumbering Might
  • Reward: 3600 Gil, Save the Queen, Einhejarium

You'll find Barrong tucked down the side of the steps leading to the Aerodrome - stand in the courtyard near the little gap and you'll get a Talk icon despite him being a fair distance away. Once he's given you the details, enter the Necrohol of Nabudis from the Nabreus Deadlands, watch out for the multitude of traps just inside the doorway, and head into the large open area. There are a lot of Baknamies in here so you may want to deal with them first to avoid being mobbed during the main event - lure them towards the doorway and use Blizzaga to wipe them out without too much effort.

Goliath strategies and how to defeat it

Goliath is weak to Dark attacks but absorbs Holy attacks, so watch your elemental weapons if you have any. His attacks are mostly magic-based, but he may also try and stamp on you which can inflict Disable, so Black Belts might be a good idea.

Throw a Dispel at him when you first engage as he'll start with a Reflect, give your party a Shell, and then just hit him with any dark spells you have and he should go down reasonably quickly; as with many of the larger enemies his defence increases when he gets to critical HP and he starts getting more aggressive, so a Quickening is always a good option in the last throes of battle.

When it's over head back to Barrong to collect your reward. Save the Queen is a decent two-handed sword, and selling Einherjarium along with 7 Virgo Gems and 2 White Incense will unlock the Cat-Ear Hood for purchase from the Bazaar.
