Final Fantasy 12 - Carrot location, requirements and strategies for the Rank VII A Carrot Stalk

How to take on Carrot in Final Fantasy 12.

Here on this page of our Final Fantasy 12 Elite Hunts and Marks guide, we'll be taking you through everything you need to know in order to defeat Carrot - a Rank VII Elite Mark for the A Carrot Stalk Hunt - including the Petitioner and Mark's locations, the Hunt requirements, and strategies for the battle itself.

If you're looking for one of the other Marks however, you can head back to our Final Fantasy 12 Hunts and Marks locations, requirements and strategies hub. For other tips and explainers meanwhile, head to our Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age guide and walkthrough, where we cover plenty more.

Carrot and the A Carrot Stalk Hunt location and requirements

Before you get to the actual battle, here's everything you need to know about Carrot and the A Carrot Stalk Hunt:

  • Prerequisites: Arrive at Mt. Bur-Omisace
  • Recommended level: 50+
  • Petitioner location: Nalbina Fortress Aerodrome
  • Mark location: Salikawood, Sun-Dappled Path
  • Reward: 5200 Gil, Stink Bombs, Putrid Liquid

When you first accept the Hunt Kjin, another Clan member, will insist the she's going to join in, so you'll have an extra pair of hands when it comes to the fight. Speak to the petitioner in Nalbina Aerodrome (she's sat on a bench to the left), then head to the Salikawood; we'd recommend teleporting rather than doing it on foot - if you kill anything (hostile or friendly) when you're in the Salikawood then Carrot won't spawn, so the less distance you have to travel the better.

As soon as you arrive hold R2 to Flee and make your way to the Sun-Dappled Path; if you teleported in it's not far away at all, but if you arrived on foot you may encounter some difficulties arriving in one piece. Krjn will greet you at the entrance to the area, and follow your party towards the target location along the narrow curved walkway.

Carrot strategies and how to defeat it

Carrot will hit your party with a whole range of status effects, so equip everyone with a mixture of Bowline Sashes and Power Armlets to counter Stop and Confusion - that way, whichever effect he uses at least one member of your party will still be able to do something.

If you're quick on the draw you can watch the Combat Log to see what attack he's preparing and then switch everyone's gear before it hits - the fight will take fewer “turns” but will probably take longer in real terms unless you're really quick in the menus, but if you're low on supplies or underpowered it can help you to survive a little easier.

With some Remedies on hand and the right accessories equipped this fight isn't too bad - aside from his status effects Carrot doesn't really do a whole lot. At about 50% HP he'll double his level and up his defence meaning you'll do him less damage, but his tactics never change.

We never had any use for any of the reward items, but cash is cash!
