Pokémon Go Gen 3 Pokémon list: Every creature from Ruby and Sapphire's Hoenn region you can catch right now

Every creature in the Ruby and Sapphire update now in Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go's Gen 3 offers over 130 new Pokémon, the biggest addition of new creatures to the game since it's summer 2016 debut - even more than the 80 or so added in Gen 2.

These Gen 3 Pokémon are from the franchise's third generation of games - Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, the vast majority of which were original creatures, alongside a couple of baby Pokémon and brand new Legendary creatures.

As with Gen 2, they won't arrive at once, with a first wave of Ghost Types during Halloween and another 50 arriving in early December.

How many Pokémon in Gen 3 are in the game so far, and other things we know about Hoenn region creatures

At the end of this article is a complete list (with images and Types) of the 135 Pokémon from the Hoenn region in the main games, including their evolution methods.

However, not all are arriving at once. The first wave of Gen 3 creatures came as part of the 2017 Halloween event, with another 50 coming in early December alongside the addition of weather effects, available in the wild, through Raids, eggs and other means.

Other Gen 3 facts and predictions

What we do know is:

gen_3_starters
  • Every Pokemon - bar two - are original and unrelated to those in previous generations
  • Those two are baby creatures Azurill (evolves into Gen 2's Marill) and Wynaut (evolves into Gen 2's Wobbuffet)
  • There are more Legendary creatures in Gen 3 than any previous generation, with 10 available, including two Mythical creatures

What we don't know is:

  • Whether new items or mechanics will be introduced for certain evolutions or appearances, such as with the new weather effects system
  • If and how many will be region exclusive creatures

Pokémon Go Gen 3 Pokémon list

As with the first two generations, most evolutions should require Candy, though we suspect new Special Items matching those used in the main game, or even additional new mechanics for others. We'll know more when they release.

Pokémon Go tips and tricks UPDATE: Gen 3 arrives with new weather effects update. Pokémon Go tips and tricks

On the hunt for more Pokémon go tips and tricks? The end of 2017 has brought plenty of new Gen 3 Pokémon and weather effects, meaning changes to region exclusives, new Baby Pokémon and other additions to the Egg chart, plus two new Raid bosses and Shinies. Ever-expanding Pokédex completionists, meanwhile, might want to read about the various Special Items available as well as the various methods for determining Eevee evolutions, too.

To clarify from the above table, the Gen 3 Pokémon that won't be available from launch will be the following Legendaries. There might be others, too, which we'll know about when Gen 3 arrives in full:

  • Regirock
  • Regice
  • Registeel
  • Latias
  • Latios
  • Kyogre
  • Groudon
  • Rayquaza
  • Jirachi
  • Deoxys

When they do arrive, our Pokémon Go best Pokémon list with fold in the new additions to see how they stack up against the first two generations. We suspect Salamence will be one to watch...
