Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - Ruins of Hope, Exeggutor Island, Sun Flute, Moon Flute

Our in-progress walkthrough for the whole Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon island challenge and beyond.

Ruins of Hope, Exeggutor Island and the Sun Flute or Moon Flute are your next key steps on the quest to find Lusamine and sort out this Ultra Wormhole issue, starting with your first strength-puzzle of the game.

Here on this page we'll explain all you need to know about the story and main events as they unfold here, and as with all pages of our walkthrough we'll highlight any and all trainers, items and wild Pokémon available to catch as well.

For more general guides and other walkthrough pages like this meanwhile, head back to our main Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon walkthrough and guide hub.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Ruins of Hope

Down in the Ruins of Hope, you'll find Lillie stumped by a puzzle - three large cubic blocks that are too heavy to move by hand. Lucky you just got Machamp Shove!

First, move the left boulder all the way upwards. Then from there, push the middle boulder to the right. Circle back to the bottom and push that now right-side boulder up from below, until it drops into the hole for you to walk over it.

Inside, you'll find Hapu interacting with the guardian spirits of the island - she's being made Island Kahuna!

With that new position she finally reveals where you need to go to get the Sun or Moon Flute (not that she could have just told you this in the first place...) - next stop: Exeggutor Island! Which is only reachable by boat from Seafolk Village, so actual next stop: Seafolk Village!

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Exeggutor Island and the Sun or Moon Flute

Back in Seafolk Village you'll find the Chief of the Seafolk, who's more than happy to take you to the island.

On dry land, you'll find a load of Alolan Exeggutor acting wildly, thrashing their heads around looking pretty upset. Clearly something is troubling them.

Head up to one and interact with it and - surprise! - a Pinsir will jump out and battle you. A rare Pokémon, it's worth catching one if you can, then clear out the other two from the troubled Exeggutor, and head north.

For more on Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, head to our main Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon walkthrough and guide hub, which includes guides to new Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Pokémon and Pokédex changes, the Festival Plaza, a list of Global Missions and rewards, an explainer on Pokémon Bank, a dedicated page on Pokémon Competitive Training, including IV Training, EVs and hidden stats, Breeding 6IV Pokémon explained and how to farm Bottle Caps fast for Hyper Training. What's more, we have pages on the Rockruff event for getting Dusk Form Lycanroc and, last but not least, a full Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon QR codes list for adding all Pokémon to your Pokédex.

There's a little cave where you can find a hidden item, and the long grass here is worth xploring for very rare Pokémon like Exeggcute, Exeggutor and Tropius, too!

Go interact with the Exeggutor at the north end of the island, and it'll help you up onto the raised ledge as thanks for clearing off those Pinsir! Follow the path upwards and you'll find the Flue waiting for you on the pedestal - take it, and then head back to Seafolk Village!

Next up: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - Vast Poni Canyon, Abandoned Trial, Totem Kommo-o, Dragonium Z

Back on the main island, Captain Mina will explain that it's time for you to head into Vast Poni Canyon, accessed via Ancient Poni Path, so yo know where to go next!
