Super Mario Odyssey - Steam Gardens, Road to Sky Garden

How to complete the Wooded Kingdom objective.

Steam Gardens and Road to Sky Garden are objectives you'll encounter a fair chunk of the way through Super Mario Odyssey, which follow on from Super Mario Odyssey - Lake Lamode, Broodals over the Lake and how to beat Tall Broodal.

You'll find our full walkthrough for them here, whilst you can head back to our main Super Mario Odyssey guide, walkthrough and tips hub for plenty more on all aspects of the game!

Steam Gardens - Road to Sky Garden

Follow the earthen path away from the Odyssey as it curves around to the left. Pass the spinning Steam Gardeners and the Crazy Cap shop on your right.

Approach the Sphynx and press 'A'. The answer to his riddle is 'Flowers'. When he's moved aside, run through the opening to emerge in an open area with puddles of purple gloop in a basic.

Run up and activate the checkpoint (Iron Road: Entrance). Jump up over the boxes before the collapse, but watch out for the next platform. It's covered in that same purple gloop. It's being spat out by those two Piranha Plants. Thankfully, you can wipe it away with Capy.

Throwing Capy at the Piranha Plants won't let your possess them - they'll swallow it! You'll need to jump on its head to free Capy and banish the plant. There are four Piranha Plants on this lower level, so deal with all four to make life a lot easier.

Throw Capy around to clear some of the gloop, the jump up on the platform on the far side and ride the rising and falling platform across to the right-hand side.

Make sure you throw Capy towards two of the platforms to clear the gloop away. On the far side, leap up and throw Capy at the Uproot. One hit will knock off its plant pot, and another will enable you to possess its bulb. Walk up to the round soil platform and hold 'B' to stretch your Uproot. Letting go will bounce your Uproot forwards onto the ledge.

Stretch and jump onto the next area, avoiding or defeating the other Uproots as you go. Leap up on the raised platforms and walk under the square alcove. Press 'B' stretch and reveal a hidden section. Bounce forwards, drop down then turn left.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

Drop down to the bottom level with the gold coins, avoid the other Uproot and use your stretch to raise the platform on the far side.

Now stretch and jump up onto it, then leap onto the higher level. Break through the bricks above, then drop down the shaft. Walk out and pass over the checkpoint (Iron Road: Halfway Point). Deal with the three Piranha Plants, then defeat the large Piranha Plant to reveal the Moon for this objective.
