Super Mario Odyssey - Crumbleden, Battle with the Lord of Lightning!

How to complete the Ruined Kingdom objective.

Crumbleden and Battle with the Lord of Lightning! are objectives you'll encounter after a fair bit of time with Super Mario Odyssey, which follow on from Super Mario Odyssey - Cookatiel Showdown! and Cookatiel boss encounter.

You'll find our full walkthrough for them here, whilst you can head back to our main Super Mario Odyssey guide, walkthrough and tips hub for plenty more on all aspects of the game!

Crumbleden - Battle with the Lord of Lightning!

The Odyssey has crashed, and you're going to need three Moons to fix it. Unfortunately, gaining this Moons is going to be one helluva fight. Follow the path up, passing the golden keys in the ground. Throw Capy at the one at the edge of the broken staircase to reveal a Spark pylon. Ride it to the far tower to begin the big fight…

When you land, the giant dragon that attacked you before will appear. His first attack will be setting of three razor wheels made of lightning. Stay near to the crackling patch on the floor to avoid these rings entirely. He'll do this attack pattern twice.

The dragon will then slam his head on the floor, emitting shockwaves from his his noggin. Try to get as close as you can while jumping over the bands of electricity. Now jump on his head. You have a short window to remove all the golden eyes on his head (three to begin with) and Ground Pound the glowing patch that is revealed. Do it in time to damage the dragon.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

The second wave will last a little longer in terms of razor wheels and shockwaves, so employ the same tactics as before. There will be more keys on the dragon's head this time, so don't wait around. Ground Pound again to hurt the dragon.

The third wave will see the dragon using one instance of razor wheels, only there will be lots of them of firing out at once. Keep dodging! The shockwaves from his grounded head will also emit faster, so be on your guard.

There will also be loads of keys on his head, so waste zero time taking them all out. Hit the Ground Pound and the dragon is finished. Claim your prize, return to the Odyssey and set off for the final showdown in Bowser's Kingdom...
