Super Mario Odyssey - Cookatiel Showdown! and Cookatiel boss encounter

How to complete the Luncheon Kingdom objective.

Cookatiel Showdown! and the Cookatiel boss encounter are objectives you'll encounter after a fair bit of time with Super Mario Odyssey, which follow on from Super Mario Odyssey - Big Pot on the Volcano: Dive In! and Cimb Up the Cascading Magma.

You'll find our full walkthrough for them here, whilst you can head back to our main Super Mario Odyssey guide, walkthrough and tips hub for plenty more on all aspects of the game!

Cookatiel Showdown!

Head through the door, and other the other side take out the Fire Piranha Plant. Use the islands to reach the other side of this area, being careful to avoid the fire-spitting plants. On the other side, hit the checkpoint (Start of the Peak Climb), and climb up the green ledges.

At the top, use the Volbonan to reach the next level. There's a flipping platform here. Don't jump on it when the purple side is up - wait until the blue side is facing up then jump across. Now make sure way across the narrow bridge, using the side ledges to avoid the tumbling peppers. At the end, use the fork to reach the next level.

Up here, posses the Lava Bubble, then use the flipping switch to reach the two flipping platforms. You can either make the jumps as a Lava Bubble, or make one just as the Lava Bubble and one as Mario. Either way, you can make your way across to the fork, flip up, cross the bridge and hit the checkpoint (Top of the Peak Climb).

Possess the Lava Bubble, climb the ramp and use the pot to reach the stew pot again.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

Cookatiel boss encounter

Stay as the Lava Bubble - do NOT de-possess or you'll die. Avoid the falling green spiked bombs and peppers, then head up the purple ramp and jump on the Cookatiel's head to damage it.

Again, avoid the dropping projectiles, then climb the zig zag ramp the boss spits out shortly after. Try jumping up it and rather than riding it, as avoiding the falling veg can be harder that way. Hit the cook again, then repeat the process one last time.

In the third phase, the ramp will now be floating platforms of purple gloop. Use them to reach the boss's head, hit it, then a Multi Moon (Cookatiel Showdown) is yours.
