Final Fantasy 12 - Diabolos location, requirements and strategies for the Rank VII Child Snatcher

How to take on Diabolos in Final Fantasy 12.

Here on this page of our Final Fantasy 12 Hunts and Marks guide, we'll be taking you through everything you need to know in order to defeat Diabolos - a Rank VII Mark for The Child Snatcher Hunt - including the Petitioner and Mark's locations, the Hunt requirements, and strategies for the battle itself.

If you're looking for one of the other Marks however, you can head back to our Final Fantasy 12 Hunts and Marks locations, requirements and strategies hub. For other tips and explainers meanwhile, head to our Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age guide and walkthrough, where we cover plenty more.

Diabolos and The Child Snatcher Hunt location and requirements

Before you get to the actual battle, here's everything you need to know about Diabolos and The Child Snatcher Hunt:

  • Prerequisites: Get the Treaty Blade during the story, have the Lhusu Mines Site 11 key from Antlion Infestation.
  • Recommended level: 55
  • Petitioner location: Bhujerba, Miner's End
  • Mark location: Lhusu Mines, Site 11
  • Reward: 2600 Gil, Demon Shield, Zeus Mace

The petitioner, Miclio, is behind a gate in the southern part of Miner's End. He's a little vague about where the mark is, so head deep into Lhusu Mines and make your way to Site 11 - if you've not been before, the entrance is in Site 9 where you fought the Antlion.

Diabolos strategies and how to defeat it

There will be no enemies when you enter the area, and you'll find your target hiding in the south west. Throw on some Protect and Shell, equip Bowline Sashes, and consider switching to using Remedies to deal with status effects - they're a little quicker than magic and this guy is incredibly fond of Curse and Scourge so you'll have a mix of Sap, Disease, Poison, and Confuse raining down on you constantly.

Aside from status effects he can do quite a lot of physical damage, and he will make regular use of Pyromania. Use Slow on him to reduce the number of times he can hit you, and try and pile on the damage. As his HP drops he will erect a Force Barrier and you'll have to rely entirely on magical damage - his weakness is water, but Scathe is very effective - and at critical HP he will switch entirely to physical attacks so try and keep Protect up towards the end.

Return to Miclio when you're done and he and his friends will disappear into thin air in a slightly creepy fashion after giving you your reward. The shield saved our hides on a few occasions and is well worth the price of admission!
