Pokémon Sun and Moon - Altar of the Sunne, Atlar of the Moone, Solgaleo, Lunala, Ultra Space

Our complete walkthrough for every step of your latest Pokémon journey.

Having cleared Vast Poni Canyon and the Captainless Trial, the Altar of the Sunne or Altar of the Moone awaits you.

At the peak, you'll also reach the peak of Pokémon Sun and Moon's main story, summoning the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo or Lunala, depending on your game version, to transport you to Ultra Space and return Lusamine to safety.

Altar of the Sunne and Altar of the Moone - Solgaleo or Lunala

Once you exit the final Trial and reach the foot of the steps up to the Altar, Lillie, and Hapu catch up to you. Hapu notes that the Trial was likely the first ever on Alola according to history - but there's no time to stand in awe, as you've got a lot of steps to climb ahead.

Ascent to the Altar and at the top, it's time to get into position and play one of the two Flutes, to summon the legendary Pokémon. In Pokémon Sun, this will be Solgaleo, whilst in Pokémon Moon it's Lunala.

Suddenly, Nebby wakes up - previously kept safe in Lillie's bag to recover - and begins to evolve! It's Cosmog that actually evolves into the legendary Pokémon when summoned.

The legendary Pokémon takes you and Lillie to Ultra Space, through a wormwhole it creates itself, and suddenly you're in a very strange world...

Ultra Space - Nihilego and Lusamine

Once in Ultra Space - a strange, dark alternate dimension - you can head home at any time by interacting with the legendary Pokémon that brought you there, which waits behind as you and Lillie forge a path ahead.

Guzma is right ahead, looking a little disturbed perched in some kind of tree. He was possessed by one of the Ultra Beasts when he tried to catch it, and is completely terrified now - but says Lusamine's completely lost it!

Further ahead, you find Lusamine. She phases in with one of the Ultra Beasts there, calling it Nihilego. She has some more harsh words for her daughter, telling Lillie that she doesn't need her - but Lillie interrupts, giving her some choice words of her own. Lusamine, furious, battles you again - but herself merges with one of the Ultra Beasts in doing so!

After you defeat her Pokémon, it looks as though Lusamine herself, fused with Nihilego, will attack you personally - but your legendary Pokémon jumps in to help just in time to take her out. Lusamine's in a sorry state afterwards, half-apologising to Lillie as she passes out. It looks like the whole place is collapsing at this point, and so Solgaleo teleports you back to your own world.

Back on firm land at the Altar, Hapu meets you having climbed the steps herself out of worry. Nebby, now permanently a legendary Pokémon, still wants to travel with you - but the only way to make that possible is to catch it!

Once it's been captured, Lille departs for now with an emotional farewell, to look after her injured mother. Out of nowhere, Officer Nanu appears, having been asked to go after you by Professor Kukui. It turns out you have one more Trial after all... defeating all four Kahunas at the newly founded Pokémon League!

It's ready now, so you know what that means... next stop, Mount Lanakila and the Pokémon League!
