Pokémon Sun and Moon QR codes list - how the scanner works and Island Scan Pokémon list

Here's how to flesh out your Alolan Pokédex - and get a few bonus Pokémon too.

Pokémon Sun and Moon QR codes allow you to scan codes of (practically) every Alolan Pokémon and add them to your regional Alolan Pokédex.

Not only is it a useful way of cataloguing creatures so you can later locate them in the wild, the system also allows you to catch an additional 28 non-Alolan Pokémon that you can't get anywhere else - until Pokémon Bank support from previous generations is introduced, that is.

There are a few caveats to the system - and it will take you some time to scan then all - but it's well worth doing if you want to, ahem, 'Catch 'Em All'.

How QR codes and Island Scan works in Pokémon Sun and Moon

To scan a QR code, open the menu, head to the second page and select the 'QR Scanner' option. The camera will activate, and place the desired QR code in front of it and snap.

It'll then be added to your Alolan Pokédex, revealing where you can catch it in the game.

You can only use the QR scanner 10 times a day. For every scan, you earn 10 points, and every 100 points allows you to use the Island Scan feature.

Island Scan will reveal a non-Alolan Pokémon on your current island for you to catch (the full details of which are at the end of this article). Go to the location within the next hour and attempt to catch it, though note you have just this single battle to do so. Whether you catch it or not, you have two hours before you can use Island Scan again.

With new Island Scan Pokémon available every day on each island, you should continue to scan QR codes and over the coming days - after all, it'll take you over a month to scan every QR code and catch every non-Alolan Pokémon - until you have the complete set. Good luck!

Pokémon Sun and Moon QR code list

There are several ways to see every QR code in Pokémon Sun and Moon's Alolan Pokédex. Note there are some notable exceptions - such as legendary or story-specific Pokémon - that won't be available for scanning. One example is the Magearna QR code and event, which we've detailed separately.

There is a complete list of every one over on Imgur - including Shiny versions of most Pokémon.

If you want, you can also download the entire set of images from Reddit - but as with any download on the Internet, do so at your own risk.

If Imgur is down, or using images doesn't take your fancy, the following YouTube video from Prosafia Gaming features them all in sequence too:
