Mass Effect Andromeda - Memory Trigger locations for the Ryder Family Secrets quest

How to find all the additional story nodes for more backstory.

Mass Effect Andromeda Memory Triggers are fragments of Ryder Seniors memories that you can collect as part of the Ryder Family Secrets side-quest.

You pick this mission up in your log shortly after you become Pathfinder, where you'll be handed your first Memory Trigger.

The remainder of them are located on the surfaces of the major planets, so will only become available once Eos has been colonised.

If you're after help for parts of the game, consult our Mass Effect Andromeda walkthrough and guide. If you'd like to check out some really fantastic Mass Effect merch, however, you should head over to our sister site Jelly Deals and take a look at their guide to the best bits around.

Ryder Family Secrets

Once you have started the quest as mentioned above, each major planet has three to collect, and whenever you collect a set of three you can return to the Hyperion and visit SAM to watch a fragment of Ryder Sr's memories.

They're marked on your map and can be highlighted on your compass by selecting the Ryder Family Secrets mission from the Allies and Relationships section of your journal.

Most are visible on the map and simply sitting out in the open waiting to be collected, but some are a little trickier to find so we've included specific instructions for those below.

Memory Trigger locations

Eos Memory Triggers

All the triggers here are visible on the map and in the open, making them simple to collect.

Elaaden Memory Triggers

The northernmost trigger is located on top of a large rock arch, and it's difficult to reach - a Nomad with speed and boost upgrades can just about be persuaded to make it, but it's also possible to collect on foot.

Head to the southern side of the rock outcropping and look for the patch of pebbles shown below, and jump up the narrow gap in the rock.

It is possible to head straight up from here if you get lucky with your landings, but a simpler route is to jump across to the flat boulder to the west and up the natural steps.

The westernmost trigger is located in a cave below the tall stone column. The entrance to the cave is just to the south of the map marker, and the trigger is in a cavern with a Fiend so enter with caution!

Voeld Memory Triggers

All the triggers here are visible on the map and in the open, making them simple to collect.

Kadara Memory Triggers

The trigger in the south west requires approaching from the base of the nearby Remnant tower. Use the Nomad to climb the grass slope just to the south of the tower, and then get out and jump over the rock to reach the trigger.

Havarl Memory Triggers

The southernmost trigger is out in the open, but the remaining two require the quest Havarl: A Dying World to access; they can be picked up during the quest or returned for later.

The northernmost requires entering the Buried Cave at the north west end of Chasm of the Builders and using the gravity well to descend to the lower level, and the easternmost is located on the top floor of Mithrava opposite the Forward Station.

Wrapping up Ryder Family Secrets

Once all 15 have been collected and the memories viewed, visit Ryder Sr's quarters in the room next to the SAM node, read all the logs at the archive station, and then head to the Nexus to talk to Director Tann.

Next, go to the security station and read the logs. Make your way to Garson's apartment and scan the bed, then head back towards the door and scan the wall to find a secret room.

Read the datapad inside then go to the Cultural Exchange and talk to the Garson VI. Return to the Hyperion once more and access the SAM node to unlock the final memory.
