Persona 5: Final Dungeon - Solve the mystery of the device puzzle solutions, Steal the public's heart, final boss strategy against Holy Grail and God of Control, Yaldabaoth

How to explore and beat the eighth and final Palace.

In Persona 5 Final Dungeon is the eighth and final dungeon that takes place during the month of December.

This is a little different to the Palaces we've encountered so far, since you have to tackle it in a single go, but is just as puzzle laden, of which we have diagrams to help.

If you're after help for other parts of the game, consult our Persona 5 guide and walkthrough.

How the final dungeon works for the Steal the public's heart objective

You have to do this entire dungeon in one hit, so stock up on as many HP and SP restoring items as you can muster!

This is the same dungeon as Momentos, and to get to the final dungeon, you need to reach the end. If you've been playing Momentos up until this point, the dungeon is much easier.

That said, to get to the final dungeon you don't actually need to clear them, just get through them, so if you've not explored them beforehand to open up quick travel points it's a slog but not too bad; most of the shadows on the top 60-odd floors will run away from you by this stage of the game.

Obviously it's better to have had a look around beforehand, but you could probably blast from top to bottom in 30 minutes or so if you were so inclined.

Once you've entered from the lowest level of Mementos the path itself is linear, so rather than giving you a blow-by-blow description of the route we'll just cover the puzzles you'll encounter - and the rest of the time just keep heading deeper.

Final boss strategy against Holy Grail and God of Control, Yaldabaoth

For the first few rounds of this battle, no matter how much damage you do the enemy will return to full health between turns so don't waste SP or items on it, just make a few melee attacks and keep your party healed until you're taken to the Velvet Room - during the dialogue do not accept Igor's deal unless you want to see one of the bad endings. Once you're free to move speak to each of your squadmates and then head up the stairs.

The next section is another linear path - the shadows here can be tough so you may prefer to use a combination of cover and dashing to avoid conflict.

Once the battle restarts Futaba will suggest a change in strategy, at which point you need to select a team member to send off - it doesn't make any real difference who you send as you can't do any lasting damage until they're back, but it's advisable to keep at least one healer on your active squad.

Once the enemy's healing has been disabled you can let rip; it's a bit of a damage sponge and can deal some devastating blows, so we'd recommend using one party member purely for healing and buffing purposes, but overall the fight is more one of attrition than anything else.

Once the enemy is down don't relax - there's more to come. After a bit more exposition the true enemy will be revealed and the real final fight begins.

During the opening turns the enemy deals no direct damage, and instead inflicts status ailments on you - whether you take the time to clear them or risk a bit of collateral damage is up to you, but we'd recommend getting as much damage in as possible during this phase.

After inflicting a few status ailments on you the enemy will begin to charge an attack - you have two rounds to prepare, so unless he's very close to death at this point and you're confident you can take him out you need to buff your party up and then guard, then repeat the cycle.

Once the fight is close to being over you'll be given a scripted Persona skill to use that will end things once and for all.

Enjoy the ending and congratulations on finishing the game!
