ORIGINAL STORY 20/4/17: Bandai Namco has announced a 2018 worldwide launch for Code Vein, a new action RPG from the team behind God Eater.

Due to arrive next year "on major home consoles", Code Vein is another dungeon-exploring role-player of the type which seems pretty popular these days.

Set sometime in the post-apocalyptic future, Code Vein's main character is a vampiric Revenant who's able to access supernatural powers after a tasty drink of blood.

Gameplay sees you exploring connected areas of a large world, armed with Gifts obtained via drinking blood to change their form, and a set of trusty weapons.

You also get to bring along an in-game buddy to help you uncover the mysteries of the game's world - a citizen of the "Vein". This is the hidden society of Revenants of which you're a part. Here's how it looks:

There's no word yet on a specific release date, or which platforms it will launch on. Might Nintendo Switch see a version? We'll have to wait to find out.
