Zelda directors reveal their favourite foods, locations and characters

"There is always something to discover."

Nintendo has provided an encore reel to its The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild documentary it released earlier this month.

This time out we get to see producer Eiji Aonuma, director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, sound director Hajime Wakai, art director Satoru Takizawa, and technical director Takuhiro Dohta discuss their favourite elements of the game.

In this roundtable interview each senior team members discusses their favourite character, shrine, location and food item.

Interesting facts include that it was Takizawa's idea to give each shrine a hint at the beginning to make the various challenge rooms more memorable (there are over 100 of them after all).

Fujibayashi also discusses his love of salt-grilled fish, the dish that inspired him to include cooking in the latest adventure. Indeed, fish and rock salt were the first ingredients he asked to be included.

I think Fujibayashi sums the strengths of the game's open-world up best when he says, "This time the focus for the planning staff was to work hard to ensure that there is always some surprise when you reach your destination. The world in this game is extremely vast, but we made sure that there is always something to discover when you see something suspicious, so I hope that players will enjoy uncovering the elements and secrets that we hid in the world as they play."
