Crytek's Robinson: The Journey launches on Oculus Rift in January

Still alive.

Recently restructured Crytek will release its dinosaur sci-fi virtual reality game Robinson: The Journey on Oculus Rift in January.

Martin Robinson reviewed the PlayStation VR version of Robinson: The Journey in November, calling it "a sumptuous theme park ride that's sadly too shallow and bland to justify the full-price cost of entry".

Just this week Crytek announced plans to close multiple studios within its network of developers after struggling to pay staff their wages.

The German company said it will concentrate development on its Frankfurt and Kiev studios, and will "continue to develop and work on premium IPs".

Its game engine, CryEngine, "will remain a core pillar of Crytek's overall strategy, with enterprise licensees and indie developers alike continuing to be served by regular engine updates".
