Pokémon Sun and Moon - Route 6, Royal Avenue, Battle Royal Dome, Thrifty Megamart, Route 7

Our complete walkthrough for every step of your latest Pokémon journey.

Now you're all done with Lana's Trial at Brooklet Hill, it's time to crack on southwards to Route 6 and Royal Avenue.

Whilst not too heavy on story content, you'll have to progress through this area before you can reach your next Trial, and there are still some interesting things to check out, particularly at the Battle Royal Dome and Thrifty Megamart.

Route 6 - Help Hapu, clear Sudowoodo

As you head south from Route 5, you'll find the Sudowoodo finally possible to clear. The boy next to them will give you a Mystic Water for finally getting them out of the way, which leaves the rest of Route 6 - a particularly long, straight route that's right next to the Pokémon Nursery, breeders will note - available for you to explore.

There's not a huge amount going on here on first look, but there are some items and trainers to check out before you move on to Royal Avenue to the east.

When you do head that way though, Team Skull turn up once again. This time, they're harassing a child's Drifloon and a young lady called Hapu, who's accompanied by her Mudsdale. One of them battles you, and as always they flee after you defeat them. Hapu gives her thanks. Seems like you might meet this young lady again...

Note that you can, at this point, circle back down to Heahea City by continuing south from Route 6, but there's not a lot there for you this point, with Digglet's Tunnel closed and the bridge eastwards equally blocked off. For now, ignore that and head east into Royal Avenue.

Royal Avenue - Battle Royal Dome, The Masked Royal and Thrifty Megamart

Royal Avenue's main attraction is, as you'd expect, the Battle Royal Dome. Heading over to it, after you've had a poke around the town for the items below, you'll find Gladion there at the entrance.

A few sour words from him and you can enter, where you'll meet your next Trial Captain, Kiawe, and the famous Masked Royal, a legendary combatant here at the Battle Royal Dome.

As it so happens, the Masked Royal likes to go around with his top off, and also masks a certain 'oh yeah' speech pattern of another familiar character. Could this be... Professor Kukui...? Yes. Yes it very obviously is.

Chat to the thinly-Masked Royal to hear about the ins-and-outs of the new (and brilliantly fun) Battle Royal mode, which pits four trainers in a free-for-all battle against each other. We highly recommend trying it out once you have a few Pokémon closer to level 50! After you've had a chat, Kiawe tells you to come try out his Trial, over at Volcano Park, by heading through Route 7.

Over to the east of Royal Avenue is the Thrifty Megamart, a place with some suspiciously low prices. Enter, and you'll be given the Discount Coupon which halves the prices on everything you buy before leaving the store. Handy! Use it to stock up, and maybe grab one of those Strange Souvenirs?

Route 7 - TM73 Thunder Wave

There's not a great deal of interest over at Route 7, which is your next stop after Royal Avenue. The tunnel north is closed off until you beat the next Trial, and so the only thing to explore is the small beach to the east, which does at least have some worthwhile items and trainers.

By surfing on your Ride Lapras, head as far north as possible and through a small gap to a secluded, northern beach. There are a couple of items to grab here, and you can also access the route's small, central island with one-way ledges from this side too.
