Zero Escape series is heading to PC, PS4 and Vita

Opening doors to new fans.

Escape-the-room visual novels Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (or 999 for short) and its sequel, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, are coming to PC, PS4 and Vita in Q1 2017 as a bundle called Zero Escape: The Nonary Games.

The anthology's version of 999 is getting revamped with HD graphics and some nifty new features like the option for Japanese or English voice-acting.

The original 999 launched on the Nintendo DS back in 2010 and was followed by an abbreviated iOS release in 2014. This mobile version took out all the puzzles, but added a feature allowing players to skip back to previous chapters in order to make different decisions and discover all of the story's branching paths. We found it an interesting yarn.

Virtue's Last Reward followed in 2012, where it launched on 3DS and Vita. Our Martin Robinson rather liked it.

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games will not include the series' third and final entry, Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, which only launched this June on Vita, 3DS, and PC. From what I understand, a full appreciation of the series' later entries is reliant on having played 999 to the end, so this re-release on contemporary platforms should alleviate this arduous barrier to entry.
