Battlefield 1 Support Class loadouts and strategies - LMGs, Mortars, Ammo Crates and more

Everything you need to know for mastering the Battlefield 1 Support Class.

The heavy-hitter of the series, the Battlefield 1 Support class sees few changes this year, instead staying true to what you can expect of LMG-bearing bruisers.

Playing Support is all about setting up shop in the right place, with an emphasis on positioning and awareness of where the battle is shifting to on the field. It's also about holding down the trigger and spraying entire clips into the air in front of you. Which is fun. Support is fun.

  • Mortar - High Explosive
  • Mortar - Air Burst
  • Ammo Pouch
  • Ammo Crate

Support Class strategies

Firstly, it's worth remembering the name of your class: Support. This class is all about staying with your team, and working closely with your squadmates in particular. As we mentioned in our Medic class guide, one excellent way to do so is set up shop at a chokepoint with a nearby Medic, with the two of you able to perpetually restock each other with Ammo and Medical Crates whilst holding off the enemy.

Alternatively, the Support makes a fantastic backline option for helping your team. There aren't always situations where setting up LMGs, which are typically slow to get going - in fact, in Battlefield 1 they actually get more accurate with longer periods of fire - in which case taking the route of the Mortar and Ammo Crate combo is a great way to keep your team in it and wear down opposition defenses.

Many a time have our defensive frontlines been broken down by consistent and accurate Mortar fire - just make sure to use the Air Burst variety, which High Explosive being reserved for vehicles only.
