Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour remaster announced

What are you waiting for, Christmas?

Happy rainy Monday. Don't worry, I've got something to cheer you up. Duke Nukem is 3D is nearly 20 years old! Oh sorry I meant: I've got something that will make you feel old!

Yes, it's anniversary time, so that means a retro remaster! Well, a retro remaster with eight new levels as well as eight-player multiplayer, co-op and bot battles.

That's all in Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour, due 11th October on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, priced $20 - or whatever the budget equivalent is here (£14.99?).

Duke Nukem 3D World Tour also features a new renderer (so things don't look stretched); re-recorded Duke voice lines by Jon St. John; a new Incinerator flamethrower weapon and some enemy flies-that-grow, learned GameSpot in a Gearbox PAX interview. The latter features were in the original code but not "hooked up" as Gearbox's Scott Warr put it.

Duke Nukem 3D first came out in November 1996, and caused quite the stir. That interactive 3D world! Those toilets! Those strippers! Wait a second. "It somehow still manages to represent both the best of what games can be, and the worst of gaming's lazy vices," wrote Dan in his trip down Duke Nukem 3D memory lane.
