Virgin Media wants you to buy its "boss-mode level" broadband for gamers

Worth netting?

UK internet provider Virgin Media has announced what it says is the first broadband tier created for online gamers.

It's being aimed primarily at YouTubers and Twitch streamers, as well as anyone who doesn't mind paying a fiver extra a month for a wider internet pipe.

VIVID 200 Gamer is a £5 upgrade to Virgin's existing top-tier package - so it doesn't come cheap.

A quick check of Virgin's tariffs reveals you'll need VIVID 200 Fibre (£45.25 a month, or more if you want a landline, plus a tenner activation fee).

So, in total, just over £50 a month.

It's not cheap, but Virgin is clearly targeting the upper end of the market with what it has termed its "boss-mode level" package.

What exactly do you get for that five extra quid? Well, VIVID 200 Gamer promises download speeds up to 200MB/s and unlimited downloads - although VIVID 200 offers this already.

The difference appears to be the 20MB upload speed, which is firmly aimed at Twitch and YouTube streamers. If you're not super hardcore into that, you're probably paying enough already.
