Finders Keepers and From a Land Far Far Away

Finders Keepers

Off the north-east coast of the island are the Giant's Toes, on the largest of which are some pirates and a shipwreck. Take out the pirates to activate the quest, then use your Witcher Senses to examine the crates. Now head to the marker in Svorlag and talk to the merchant to claim the finder's fee and finish the quest.

From a Land Far Far Away

Out to sea, east of Redgill there's a small island. Sail to it, pick up the journal, use your Witcher Senses to examine the body and the crest on the side of the boat, and then read the journal. On the south side of the island there's a mast poking out of the water: dive down and search the wreck, looting the chest to find a letter and the captain's log.

Read them, then head back to Novigrad and aim for the village of Ursten. You'll bump into a foreign guard desperately searching for a woman. Talk to him, then head towards the marker. Locate a second wreck just outside the north-west edge of the circle and use your Witcher Senses to examine the crest.

Now follow the footprints. You may find you keep slipping back into the water at first (this is a very badly positioned trail), but it eventually reaches more solid ground and leads you to a building. A woman comes running out. Follow her to a cave, then decide whether to protect her from the guard or wash your hands of the whole affair.

A Hallowed Horn and Hard Times

A Hallowed Horn

On the noticeboard, north of Holmstein's Port is a note marked Contract: Stolen Horn. Take it to activate the quest, then follow the marker. Find the small island with a big stone obelisk in the centre and deal with the enemies. Recover the horn from a chest near the tent, along with a journal detailing what happened. Return to Kaer Muire and speak to Mathios to complete the quest.

Hard Times

South of Miners' Camp there's an overturned cart. A cyclops will lumber towards you and attack, and the quest will begin once you've killed him. Use your Witcher Senses to examine the scene, then follow the footprints to a nekker ambush.

Once you've killed them, pick up the trail again until you locate a body. Loot it, read the letter, then head to the new marker in Kaer Trolde. Hand over the letter to the blacksmith. Tell the truth and he'll reward you, try and spare his feelings and he'll never speak to you again.

Our Witcher 3 walkthrough and guide can help you with the main story, including the Wandering in the Dark and Family Matters missions, and eventually, one of several Witcher 3 endings. Elsewhere, learn about the best Witcher 3 builds, the best Witcher 3 mods, how to make money in Witcher 3, find Places of Power locations, and learn how to do Witcher 3 crafting and Witcher 3 Alchemy And when you're done with all those - we can help you through expansions with our Hearts of Stone walkthrough and Blood and Wine walkthrough.

In the Heart of the Woods

Activate this by reading the noticeboard in Kaer Trolde Harbour, then head for the marker. Talk to the small crowd outside town, then use your Witcher Senses in the marked area to pick up the trail.

Examine a couple of clues along the way (a dead dog, a crushed body pinned to a standing stone) and fight off some white wolves as you come to an area filled with more standing stones. Examine them to find some markings, then read your new bestiary entry. You now have two options:

Harald:

If you talk to Harald he'll suggest a way of getting rid of it. Agree, and head towards the marker. When you reach it you'll be attacked by five white wolves. Kill them, then loot the bodies to collect their hearts. Place them on the altar, then return to Harald to collect your reward. After some dialogue you'll be given the choice of letting Sven kill Harald, or killing Sven and his guards. Take your pick, and the quest ends.

Sven

Talk to Sven and find the girl located near the stream on the western edge of the village. Return to him and then follow the three markers. Use your Witcher Senses in each marked area, then chop down the highlighted bush. Don't stand still too long or you'll take a hit, and watch out for more white wolves patrolling the woods.

Once all three are down, head to the next marker. Activate your Witcher Senses as you approach and the fight will begin once you're close enough to the red “noise”. When the leshen disappears, keep an eye on the ravens to get warning of where he'll reappear, and watch out for his ranged attack. When he looks to be charging up, keep dodging to avoid the deadly shrubbery that emerges from the ground.

Once he's dead, loot the remains and head for the marker. Sven's been busy while you were gone - either accuse him or keep out of his business, and the quest will end.

Never Trust Children 2

East of Arinbjorn, a small child will tell you their father is in trouble. Follow him into an obvious ambush and kill the bandits.

The Nithing

South east of Rannvaig, you'll come across a hut with a man praying outside. Offer to help him out, then follow the marker and have a good look at the horse's head on a stick. Use your Witcher Senses to follow the trail of footprints leading from it until you find a woman's shawl on a tree.

Now follow the scent trail which leads you back to the village, before dying out. Head down the path to the left to find Skellige Woman standing by the water, and ask her about the shawl. Follow the marker to Jonna and speak to her - hell indeed hath no fury...

Return to Lothar and make a decision: either let Jonna live and make him renounce his family, or kill Jonna by inscribing her name on the nithing. The latter option will lose you a herb merchant, but gain you some Crowns.
