Eli Roth made an animated Dark Souls short

Hostel and Cabin Fever director gets Namco's blessing for gore.

Hostel and the original Cabin Fever director Eli Roth has made an animated short film promoting Dark Souls 3.

Working with animation studio Six Point Harness, Roth's video, The Witches, is about two minutes long and contains all the gore and subtly macabre comedy one would expect of the man behind Knock Knock.

The Witches doesn't contain much specific lore from the Dark Souls series, but it captures the tone of a woundrous shadowy world where things go very wrong very quickly. For more on the promo's creation, we've included a "behind the scenes" video below.

This isn't the first time a horror filmmaker has been asked to make an animated promotional short for a video game, as a couple of years back Ubisoft had Rob Zombie make an Assassin's Creed: Unity promo.

Dark Souls 3 will be out internationally on 12th April for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
