Hyrule Warriors to get Link's Awakening, Phantom Hourglass DLC

Fresh season pass announced for second round of DLC.

Hyrule Warriors may be 18 months old, but it's still set to get fresh DLC - Nintendo just announced a new Season Pass full of the stuff.

New characters from Zelda games such as Link's Awakening, Phantom Hourglass and A Link Between Worlds are headed to the game, along with fresh weapons. Four packs will be released in total over the next year - they're detailed in full below.

Our best guess at the Link's Awakening character would be Marin, while Linebeck seems a good shout for Phantom Hourglass.

Separately, the game's new 3DS version, Hyrule Warriors Legends, will gain all of the above plus a handful of extra maps as well.

And both versions of the game will get Wind Waker character Medli for free this spring.

Hyrule Warriors on Wii U already received four DLC packs, which added Epona, Midna, Tingle, Young Link and a Boss Challenge Mode to the game.

This new round of DLC sees Hyrule Warriors on Wii U and 3DS fed with fresh offerings until the end of 2016. The array of new content, as well as its availability and pricing, is all pretty confusing - especially when you factor in the game's 3DS version.

Deep breath...

The new season pass costs £8.99/€9.99 for Wii U, £13.49/€14.99 for 3DS or £15.29/€16.99 for both. It costs more on 3DS because each pack contains extra 3DS costumes and maps. Importantly, all characters will be available on both systems.

Alternatively, you can buy each pack separately. The first pack (for 3DS only) costs £1.79/€1.99. The other packs will individually cost £6.29/€6.99 for 3DS or £4.49/€4.99 for Wii U.

If you own Hyrule Warriors on Wii U and don't want the new 3DS edition then there's also a pack to get the characters included with the 3DS version (Skull Kid, Toon Link, King Daphnes, Tetra and Linkle, plus Ganondorf's Trident weapon) on Wii U. It'll launch this summer for £10.79/€11.99.
