Rime could be going multiplatform

Tequila Works reacquires rights to the IP from Sony.

At Gamescom 2013 Deadlight developer Tequila Works announced a very pretty PS4- exclusive adventure game called Rime. Now, there's a distinct chance it may not stay exclusive as the developer has reacquired the rights to the title from Sony.

"Tequila Works has chosen to reacquire the rights to its adventure game, RiME, and is working hard to realise its aspirations for it," the Spanish studio announced on Twitter.

Evidently Tequila Works once pitched the game to Microsoft as an exclusive for its stable of platforms, but the Redmond company passed on it - a decision head of Xbox Phil Spencer went on to regret.

"Part of job is living with mistakes," he said at the time. "Passed on Guitar Hero...I can list many misses regretfully. I try to focus on what we did ship."

We've requested further info from Tequila Works on what the rights acquisition could mean for Rime. In the meantime, its Gamescom 2014 trailer - the last we've seen of the game - still holds up remarkably well.
