Data-miners reckon they've uncovered Street Fighter 5's DLC characters

Beat Capcom to the punch.

Six characters will be released as downloadable content for fighting game Street Fighter 5, Capcom has said. What it hasn't said is who they are. Data-miners, though, reckon they've found out.

If you consider naming and shaming DLC characters a spoiler, stop right here.

A user over at Shoryuken has data-mined the PC version of the game, which was recently available to play in beta form, and uncovered audio files for six unannounced characters.

They are as follows:

  • Alex
  • Guile
  • Ibuki
  • Balrog
  • Juri
  • Urien

There's also a mention of the character name "Fan", which may be Street Fighter 5's 16th and final as yet unannounced launch character.

15 characters have so far been announced for the game. They are:

  • Ryu
  • Chun-Li
  • Nash
  • M. Bison
  • Cammy
  • Birdie
  • Ken
  • Necalli
  • Vega
  • R. Mika
  • Rashid
  • Karin
  • Zangief
  • Laura
  • Dhalsim

Street Fighter 5 differs from previous games in the series in that Capcom plans to release additional characters one after the other following the game's February 2016 release.

Capcom said on average it will release one new character every two months. You'll be able to buy it with real world money or an in-game currency called Fight Money.

Here's how it works: Fight Money can be earned through completing a Daily Goal or levelling up individual characters. Daily Goal examples include things like landing X number of Hadoukens or X number of crush-counter hits. Capcom hasn't confirmed accumulation rates, but it's said it wants to make sure players of all levels are given the chance to earn Fight Money.
